Who makes this call?

A bit of story to this one. I was miffed at the villian for rivering me earlier on a huge pot. I flopped the nut flush, he flopped trip threes. He pushed I called and board paired. Bygones. A few hands later he got completely owned by another player to knock him back down to his current stack. He was a fish and I knew it. I made a comment promising that he leaves the table broke, not sure if that was wise or not. Player is very loose and a calling station.

MP bets $52.45 (All-In), Hero calls $52.45.

Final Pot: $184.10

I typed out right before I called "If you were calling with a 9 after all that you're worse than I thought".

So whats your move. Obvious fold? Crying Call? Insta-call?

Re: Who makes this call?

The flush draw completely too, so Q9 or a spade draw got there. Unless he's bluffing with a missed QK, you're behind. The pot isn't big enough for you to make this call.

Re: Who makes this call?

i don't play at the .50/1 yet, but would a bet of 18 - 20 dollars after the flop and an all-in push on the turn take that pot down?

Re: Who makes this call?

I realize that this would be a very aggresive play to make, but with the spades out there and a possible backdoor straight I would have made it extremely pricey for him to draw out on me, considering his play on the previous hand. Maybe even push the flop? Or is that just kamikaze-ish

I think you are being results oriented.

Re: Who makes this call?

In my opinion betting the pot here is plenty pricey enough to make him draw on me. Suck out sucks, but playing it too fast makes you not win as much as you can. If I shorted it anywhere I should have bet about $25 to $30 on the turn.

Why not a full pot, 40 dollar bet on the turn?

Re: Who makes this call?

You priced in a flush draw on the turn. (3:1 with good implied odds)

The thing is a lot of hands would do this that you beat. If he had any set there's no way he'd put you on the flush or straight. If he had top two he'd assume his hand was good also after that turn bet. And the 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] is the best scare card in the deck, so a bluff is possible also.

Flush is most likely though imo. Straight possible, but less so.

You have to be ahead here about 40% of the time to make this profitable. I don't think you are ahead that often, but given the history I'd probably make a crying call and pray he was bluffing.

I don't like the three flush. I don't like a four straight. I'm sure he has it, but I would probaly call anyway...those holes in my wall didn't get there by themselves...

Re: Who makes this call?

Why such a small bet on the turn? He called a pot sized bet on the flop. There are a ton of draws out there. Make him pay to hit his draw. I would recommend bigger flop and turn bets.

Re: Who makes this call?

Seems like a tight race. Yes I know the play wasn't optimal and as always everyone states bet more on such and such a street, but I'm really looking at the call/fold decision at the end here. He really wanted to show me up but it's about as dangerous as a board that you can get when counting on the fact that he's making a bluff.

Re: Who makes this call?

You need to bet bigger on the turn. At least $30. Don't get greedy. If he folds, you still take down a nice pot, but if he calls and misses his draw, it's even sweeter.
