Hand 290 - Ivey has the button, he limps, and Williamson checks. The flop comes 8-7-4, Williamson bets $40,000, Ivey raises, and Williamson calls all in. Ivey shows 10d-6c-5s-4c (ten-high straight), and Williamson shows Ac-8c-2c-2h (pair of eights). The turn card pairs the board with the 4h, and Williamson needs to catch a two to stay alive (2 outs). The river card is the 3s, and Robert Williamson III is eliminated in second place, earning $353,115.

What a great job by Ivey... just awesome. Will make for some incredible TV.

Definitely.

I'm more impressed by Williamson, though. What is this, the fourth or fifth straight year with a top five finish in an Omaha event at the WSOP? Williamson really must be the best American Omaha player in the world.

To be honest, I was rooting for Williamson, though. Nice guy, who deserves more than one WSOP Omaha title.

Yeah, Williamson's record is great, but Ivey's isn't too bad either. This is his second PLO bracelet.

This is what makes Phil Ivey such a great player. For most of us this would be an 8-high straight, but for Phil, it counts as a 10-high straight. Strange, but TRUE!!!!

Phil Ivey wasn't going to play in Event #27 $5000 Pot Limit Omaha with Rebuys. He was sleeping at the time that the event was scheduled to start. Barry Greenstein noticed he was not registered, so he woke him up with a phone call. Barry knew that Pot Limit Omaha is one of Phil's better games and insisted that Phil get over to the Rio to play. Phil Ivey mainly concentrates on cash games these days and he chose to play a light tournament schedule this year. It's a good thing that Phil Ivey woke up and answered Barry Greenstein's phone call because he picked up his fifth WSOP bracelet.

I played next to this guy for a full day once, and he is one of the nicest, high class guys I've met at a poker table. A lot of fun to play cards with.

For a guy playing a light schedule over the last year, he has had some nice results. I think this was his seventh final table appearance in the last 12 months (1st in this event, 3 WPT's, 2nd place at the Lake Tahoe WSOP event, first at Turning Stone, and 3rd in Monte Carlo).

Hes only entered 2 tournaments so far in this years WSOP, and he won 1 of them. [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img]

Too bad he doesn't play more tourneys. I guess hes content to kill the cash games all day long. Cant say I blame him, thats where the real money is.
