Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
I'm going through my pocket pair play, and this one completely baffles me. Was I drunk or something, donking it up on my birthday? I can't even remember this.

I just played a hand where I accidently cold-called with 93o. It actually went to showdown. People must have thought I was some the best fish out there =D

Wow either you play really crappy when you are trashed or I play really well. Since I do it all the time I tend to think that it is the latter.

Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
I won't be able to find the hand, but I had some offsuit middle junk a couple of weeks ago that I meant to fold. It got raised before me to boot, but somehow I accidentally hit raise and three bet it. I made some kind of hand on the flop - I think it was two pair and I rammed and jammed the pot. It didn't go to showdown but I unclicked the automatic hand mucker so everyone could see it and think I was bonkers.

Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarrassing hand.
A live home game, 6-handed. A .25/.50 game, with a full kill, but plays like a TAG/ sometimes LAG 2+2 table...in fact, is hosted by a 2+2er. Was over a year ago, when I was still basically clueless about basic limit concepts (yes, I realize I'm leaving myself wide open here, and I don't care.)
-MP is a smart LAG, who has been playing poker for over 20 years, but Hold'em for only about 1½. His one preflop weakness is, he is prone to playing (and often raising) any ace. -CO is the TAG 2+2er host. The table was in one of its LAGgish streaks. In a kill pot, I'm dealt 6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] on the button. UTG folds, MP (the Kill) raises (he ALWAYS raised PF when he had the Kill, and collected some rather ridiculous kill pot winning streaks, as a result), CO 3-bets, I COLD-CALL 3 (UGH), SB folds, BB folds, MP calls. Flop: 2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (9 SB) MP bets, CO calls, I call. Now, for the ugly part. Turn: 6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (6 BB) MP bets, CO raises, I 3-bet (I HAVE A SET...DONKDONKDONKDONK), MP caps, CO calls, I FOLD. (Laugh at me...PLEASE!!) River: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (17 BB) MP bets, CO raises, MP 3-bets, CO calls. CO shows K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] MP shows A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (there's that Any Ace again), in what would have been basically, for the limit, a 54 BB pot, (assuming I call the turn cap, 3-bet the river, and they both just call), where I 3-bet/folded the best hand, with odds to call. After that, that table made plays at me for the next two months, and with good reason. When I post here or play, I always try to check my ego at the door...I find egotism to be -EV. |

Entity posted a hand we played where I put 4bets in on the river(and 3on the turn i think, i bet/3bet the river, called the cap) with a pair of 8's nokicker, I should dig the thread up since Entity didn't name his hand or mine, and seeing the 2+2ers ideas on my hand were pretty good, Entity even said that trying to figure out my hand was pointless

Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
I think I've beaten the stupidest hand of all time record. Sorry, no hand history, it's in a smallish poker room with no such options.
I've got TT in mid position, raised preflop, 3 callers, button 3bet, everyone calls, 5 people see the flop. flop comes 57T rainbow. 1 player checks, I bet, 2 call, button raise, early player folds, I reraise, everyone calls. Turn - A. I bet, everyone calls, button raises, I reraise, everyone calls (4 players). River J (no flush on board). I am first to act, I click on bet, but somehow, in hell, I hand slipped and I clicked on FOLD! And the damn room doesn't have a check/fold protection, so my hand is folded immediately. FS! I almost busted my mouse. The pot was ~26 BB. The winner showed down two pair. Aw... |

Had 99 in BB. Flop 555. SB bet and I raised. He made a comment that he was worried about his kicker. Turn 9. He checked I bet. River he checked and I bet b/f looking at the board (then noticed the river was the case 5). He called and won w/ 4 of a kind w/ an Ace kicker. |

Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
This was live 3/6 when I was still brand new, but it went something like this:
My hole cards: K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. One raise to me and I call (off to a brilliant start). There were maybe 4-6 seeing the flop, which comes (I think) K-J-T. There's a bet, I raise, get reraised, and cap. We lose all but 3 of us. The turn is a Q. The now the two in front of me bet and raise. I reraise. They call. The river is an A. I'm sure one of them has an ace, when one of them bets, I fold my pair of kings. The board plays and they split a big pot. A very nice old man next to me explained what happened. I couldn't even figure it out for myself, I was so confused. Oh the horror. |
Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
This was shortly after I had found 2+2's forums and books. Still a relative newb to poker, but learning quickly. Table was your typical casino $2-4 table, usually 5-6 seeing the flop and mostly passive. My friend who introduced me to poker and 2+2 was sitting to my immediate left. Recalled as best I could from memory.
I'm dealt A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] in mid position. I raise and there's 4 callers. Villain in the hand is last to act. Fairly loose and calls down with any piece of the board. Flop is 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I bet out, 1 calls, villain raises, I 3-bet, caller folds, villain calls. Turn is A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I bet out, villain calls. At this point, I am so concentrated on this river not being a heart. I'm about 95% sure villain has the hearts for the flush. River is a [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. I mutter my disgust and check/call. Villain flips over two random hearts for the flush. I turbo-muck disappointed in my fortune. My friend and another player look at me and say "So you didn't have an Ace?" I look at them perplexed and say "Of course I did, but he had a flush." My friend laughs and points to the river card. I had only taken note of the the fact that the card was a heart, not that it happened to be the 3[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Doh! Too late since I threw my hand away. |
Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
About a week after I first started playing, I went down to the local Casino and sat at the 5/10 table armed with the knowledge (gleaned from an extensive web search) that any hand containing two cards eight or higher was profitable.
To make a long story short, I ended up putting in about ten bets on the river with the nut flush on a paired board. To make matters worse, my opponent three times stopped, studied the board, and looked back at his cards to be sure he had the nuts before reraising, but I never did a double-take. |

I must have been seriously fed up in the head, because I didn't think I had the straight with the first ten....I have no idea where I was, but all I was thinking was, haha you lag! Re: Check your egos at the door and post your most embarassing hand.
Poker Stars .05/.10 yesterday, folded AcAh with four clubs on board, about 35 BB in pot. Had been getting emotional from terrible run of cards/luck, was cursing, "Of course, my Aces got beat by a flush again." Middle of next hand: "Wait...what suits were those Aces." Lessons: 1. Getting emotional makes good play impossible; 2. Never fold on river w 35 BB in pot; the chances of your hallucinating and seeing fictional cards alone justifies a call; 3. Maybe I'll push back my WSOP entry one year.
