\"i flopped a straight\"
This was an odd hand because after MP1 capped on the flop he said that he flopped a straight. I have no reason to believe that he is either lying or telling the truth, since he had not said anything before this hand.
I'm mainly looking for comments on turn and river. MP1 seems LA-A, i only have about 37 hands tracked on him though (55/13/2.4). SB is LA-P (57/7/1.3). Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (5 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, MP1 raises, CO folds, SB calls, Hero 3-bets, UTG folds, MP1 caps, SB calls, Hero calls. Turn: (9 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, SB calls, Hero calls. I wasn't to worried that the SB was still around, since he could be calling with just about anything. River: (12 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, SB calls, Hero ???? Final Pot: 15 BB |
Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
Turn off chat. Give that you didn't, I bet the turn and call a raise. Chack/call the river UI.

Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
I would just call the river.

Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
I really want to pose a question right now. We are overcalling that river. Is our two pair good enough with this board to beat two people 1-15 times here. I don't really know to be honest. what could the sb be calling with the entire time. there is also a four card straight on the board and the flop bottom pair paired on teh board. so can we really overcall here(just trying to drum up some discussion as I would probably overcall myself)
ahhh, the edit button can be fun |

[/ QUOTE ] i dont know if we are good enough here, even with the 14:1 pot odds against two opponents. there are just too many hands that beat you on such a coordinated board. if you were ahead of an overpair on the flop, the river just strengthened their hand and SB could easily play tt or 99 the same way. |

ahhh, the edit button can be fun [/ QUOTE ] LOL. I think this one is very freakin' close. So, I remember the passage from SSHE about folding for one bet in a large pot and call. |
Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
With two pair I still think you call

Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
You can fold this river and still look him up. You won't be good enough of the time to make a profit long-term.

Pretty certain we have SB beat...you don't think MP1 is bluffing 1 in 17 times? [/ QUOTE ] Into two players on the river after a continuation bet on the turn on this board? Not without a solid read of him as a bluff-happy maniac or a fourth-level expert, no. Besides, hero's flopped 2 pair became less and less attractive as each street progressed. I fold here and have no qualms about it regardless of the actual results. |
Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
it looks bad on the river, but i don't think it is a good idea to fold. there is no way how you can be 93% sure that you are beat at that point.
just to give you a scenario which hero wins: the agressor might have overplayed a flush draw and the caller might have a pair with a flush draw or a gutshot. and sometimes the internet-people are just confused and have total crap. for example, i had an opponent once who capped me preflop and on the flop and raised me on turn and river. i had AA, he had A6 unimproved. and he did not have maniac stats. |
Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
Thanks for the replies.
I did call and whole hand worked out like this. Party Poker 2/4 Hold'em (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG calls, 1 fold, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 1 fold, SB completes, Hero checks. Flop: (5 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players) SB checks, Hero bets, UTG calls, MP1 raises, CO folds, SB calls, Hero 3-bets, UTG folds, MP1 caps, SB calls, Hero calls. Turn: (9 BB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, SB calls, Hero calls. River: (12 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (3 players) SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets, SB calls, Hero calls. Final Pot: 15 BB Results in white below: Hero has 7c 8s (two pair, eights and sevens). MP1 has 6d 9c (straight, nine high). SB has 2c 6h (straight, eight high). Outcome: MP1 wins 15 BB. |
Re: \"i flopped a straight\"
And he said "I flopped a straight" immediately after the flop? I guess it worked out for him, but I can't see how that's a good idea. Half the time at 2/4 people won't even notice there's a straight out there!
