Sparks is very good from what I've heard. I've never been, but most swear by it. One issue I have is it's very stuffy. I hate going out in my suit. |

Brooklyn rules. |
Re: In my ever growing quest to be more like El Diablo
You say take out? Where did you eat it?
But kudos to you sir. Any man who takes pictures of his meal deserves some sort of glutton award. I grew up there for the most part (Brooklyn); I'll stick to Matthattan for now. |
Re: In my ever growing quest to be more like El Diablo
I don't think they actually have take out. Regardless, any place that has a bacon appetizer is worth the trip.

Did you hit up any places for Restaurant Week? What do you know about Roth's Steakhouse up by me? I'm intrigued because of it's proximity. |

When I want a steak in Matthattan I almost always go to Les Halles, sometimes to City Hall. |
Re: In my ever growing quest to be more like El Diablo
I'd go with the Lump Crab meat & Bay Scallop appretizer. Caesar salad. Filet - rare...either that or the Snapper.
|
Re: In my ever growing quest to be more like El Diablo
Get what you want...
What part of Brooklyn? |

Sometime after your vegas hangover, there should be a NY 2+2 Borgata trip and eat at the one there. (cept I declare there should be absolutely no poker played) |

Re: In my ever growing quest to be more like El Diablo
I disappoint, I don't. Well, the thing is, I might, I just never got to know the names of some places (as strange as that sounds). I could be saying that to save face though since I remember a lot of other names.
Tony's sounds familiar, I dunno, I'd do better with intersections... EDIT: I'm gonna stop watching this thread like a hawk to try to reminisce about things familiar, but shoot me an IM to Ogrodek04 if you ever want to chat it up. |

I made up the pecan pie... if I am going to fantasize about a meal its going to end with pecan pie.

That looks great but like it would block your colon for a week. I'd be walking like I just got sold for a pack of cigarettes after that.

Trip Report
I'm still a little drunk from last night, so this is going to be choppy...
Left work and ran uptown to my apartment to change and play 64 losing hands of poker. Had (1) Sam Adams Light(this was all that was in fridge) Hopped in a cab to Sparks, met my two friends for a drink. Fired up a bushmills neat then we were escorted to our seat. I skipped lunch so I was immediately smitten with the warm roll and butter as we chose our wine for the evening. We chose the clos du val cabernet 2001, Ok on to the order, we got both hot seafood appetizers. A little dissapointed with the shrimp, as there were three of us and they couldn't throw one more shrimp on there. 2nd bottle of the Cabernet We all got a salad, me and my bud split the warm spinach and the caesar, both were really good, crisp fresh greens, light dressing. Good stuff. For the main, I did another split with my other friend. Sparks is known for it's sirloin; but I'm a filet guy. So I split the filet and sirloin with my buddy. Both were possibly the best steaks I've had in New York (I have not been to Lugers). The sides though were a tad dissapointing. Third bottle of cabernet. Hashbrowns were good enough, but very hard to serve. Asparagus was excellent, but the creamed spinach was just not good. A little bland, too pureed for my tastes. We didn't get any coffee or desert as Game 7 was just about to start and we wanted to get down to the Union Square area to watch the game. These bars generally sort of suck. They are yuppie bars BUT they are packed with amazing looking women. All young and vapid; but wonderful to look at. Only bad part of the evening was that I lost credit card roulette.
