Dont cap the river. And there are more than two hands that beat u in this hand.

J9, 99 (if the man doesnt know how to fold)...unlikley hands are AA, JJ, QQ. So 3-4 likely hands...but with terrible play that is the hall mark of the party .50...there are definitly more possibilities.

Its not hard to see the first three out there. If they are not there u might be chopping.

Uh, weak-tight alert:

Turn-check-raises are generally bad things. In this case it could mean that he had a jack, but QJ and AJ are possible also. When it's two bets back to you on the river, you must fold.

I'm not 100% sure about the turn 3-bet though. It might be okay. Against a maniac I'll do it every time (and cap the river too). [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

AFAIK, no one's ever done a study on what sorts of hands people will check-call the flop with, then check-raise the turn. I'd guess that it'd be a pretty tough job, because you'd have to factor in different board textures and different numbers of opponents.

Am I the only one that thinks the flop call is suspect?

There were 8 SBs in the pot to hero. He had 4 outs to the STR8 (4 Qs) and a backdoor flush. That's about 5 1/2 outs. You need around 9-1 to call with 5 1/2 outs. Granted, you have to consider implied odds, but you also have to discount your chances because of the paired board with an Ace (most played card) because of full house possibilities.

I know I am very tight, but I think I would have folded on the flop.

I fold this flop. You're getting 8:1 on an at best 10.5:1 shot. You have to discount your outs slightly because of the paired board. If you count your gutshot outs as 3 outs and your backdoor flush as 1, then you need 10.5:1 to continue. I suppose it's close, considering implied odds, but I still think I fold this flop.

I think you can fold the river when it is 2 back to you. If not, just call. Capping is bad.

Dont feel alone, Im having the same kind of day. Im -22.25bb/100 for the last 400 hands today. Big sets and flushes getting rivered all over the place. [img]/images/graemlins/mad.gif[/img] Gonna take a break for a couple hours. Not whining here, just lettin him know it happens.

If you will get out your copy of SSHE and read it once in a while you will see that this is how you make money at small stakes. We like to see lots of players go to the river because even though we know that we are beat we must cap that river if we want to hear the cha-ching.

You need to start playing more hands like 23s and such so that you can pump lots of big pots and have a chance to win the pot. Remember that any money you have put into the pot is gone and doesn't matter anymore. It belongs to the pot. If you want to win the pot you have to stay in. Remember the nuts or second nut can win pots.

To the OP, you have only played about 300 hands. Bad stuff happens. Its not to say that you have a perfect game, but you can do the right stuff and still have a bad outcome. Wait will 30,000 hands and then see if you have the same results.

Post more hands. Or IM them to me. Whatever you do, quit freaking out and just play solid poker and it will turn around.

You need to learn to embrace variance if you really want to succeed at poker. It is part of the game and you need to get used to it.

Fold the flop. Your implied odds are countered by the paired board, in a dangerous flop. Calling is better on a paired flop like 229 rainbow where there is less chance of being behind.

I would have folded the flop.
You got 4 out to the inside STR8 + 1.5 BDF - Pair on board. You could hit your STR8 or Flush and still lose to a House or higher Flush
