Biggest NL game in AC?

is it really just 2/5?

Re: Biggest NL game in AC?

No, there are bigger games at the Borgata. They run 5/10 and 10/25 NL games regularly. And maybe once or twice a week they even run a 25/50 NL game. I wouldn't sit in the big one unless you've got some serious experience though, there are often some big names in that game.

On weekends, they have 10/20 NL at Tropicana. I have seen 50/100 PLHE at the Taj, but I don't think it is a regular thing.

some kid who was a 'regular' at Taj said 2/5 is the biggest game in AC. that's ridiuclous, needless to say.

who plays the big games that is well known?

WTF?

Even high limit live games have fallen victim to this capped buy-in horseshit?

I didn't even know that capped buy-ins existed live beyond 1/2, 2/5, etc.

I'm shocked the regular players in that game stand for this.

Re: Biggest NL game in AC?

I'm on your side on this one but let me explain the reasoning behing it. The sudden boom in NL hold'em has forced many card rooms to spread a game they're not thrilled in spreading to begin with. They would much rather you play limit. They can rake off you a lot longer without fear you'll go bust the first hand you play. Many inexperienced players also play over their heads in NL, crushing their bankroll, and keeping them out of action. A capped buy-in helps keep the game in check by protecting the weaker players. It also protects the strong players. (Everyone takes a beat in NL once in a while)

Re: Biggest NL game in AC?

I think part of the reason for a capped buyin is to prevent someone from bringing a huge stack and using it to play aggressively. I don't think it is a bad idea.

I know at the Tropicana they limit the buyin to 100BBs at the 5/10 and 10/20 games.

I watched to 10/20 game and they seemed like mostly pros, but there wasn't anyone I had seen on TV or anything.

The 1/2 and 2/5 games are pretty easy with a lot of bad loose players. From what I have seen and heard, I don't think the 5/10 games are extremely tough, but you are risking your $1K buyin.

He jerked your chain. $2-$5 no limit is sometime the biggest game that the Taj spreads.

When the WPT visited town in September the Borgata spread a $50-$100 no limit game that went every day. Jim Miller, Amir Vahedi and other "celebrities" played in it.

who plays the big games that is well known?

I do not play the big games, and I certainly am not well known, however I have played next to the big game. I would say Jason V is the best known player who plays in the big games.

The Borgata now spreads $25-$50 and $10-$25 no limit as their biggest game. The Trop spreads $10-$20 no limit as their biggest game. The Taj sometimes spreads $5-$10 no limit, otherwise $2-$5 is their biggest game.

There are some good players that play the 10-25 but I don't know if they are known names.
I'll be at the Borg tonight. I won't play it (I never have) but I'll find out what the max buy in is for the 25/50 game.

This isn't a tournament, a big stack makes no difference, if someone can buy in for $1 more than me, and has money in their pocket, having $10,000,000 extra on the table won't help them in ANY way.

Re: Biggest NL game in AC?

I play NL at the Taj, Trop and Borg, and the biggest games are at the Borg. They will spread almost any game if there is enough interest. The 10/25 game has a cap of 5K, the 25/50 game has no cap. I have played in both games and not seen any 'big' names', although i did hear that things were different in Sept. during the WPT. Contrary to what some folks may think the cap has a huge impact on a game, if i could sit in a 2/5 game with 5K, I would be able to bully the entire table as i can break any and everyone in one hand. even if someone doubles through me twice, i would still have them covered, i have seen some LAGs go on a rush at 2/5 and win 2K and then proceed to push around the entire table, sometimes raising 10 hands in a row making it impossible to put them on a hand and allowing them to hit weird two pair hands and stack players with one big pair. i for one wouldn't sit in a game if someone had 1K x BB, and i didn't.

Hi Mike,

I was curious whether Jason V still plays in AC, and if so, which game & casino. I know he used to play the pot limit games at the trop but they've stopped spreading that. I have always wanted to meet him because he is the only semi-famous Thai poker player I know (I've surmised he's originally Thai from his extra long last name Viriyayuthakorn ... )

He plays the $10-$25 no limit game or the $25-$50 game when it goes.

He was born in Thailand.

The 25-50 didn't go Friday night or the early part of Saturday (10-25 couldn't even get going by 7:00 Saturday) but I asked the floor and he said the 10-25 is 5K min, uncapped.

Holy F*ck are u serious about the no cap buying?
I only stopped goin to AC, because i felt my deep stack nl play was much better than with 100bbs. I f*cking luv goin to AC way more than foxwoods anyway, cocktail waitresses at Borgata alone!
Next stop... the Borg

hi thabadguy, i think it's been mentioned above but there've also been a couple of contradictory posts, so i wanted to confirm for you that--as of 2 wknds ago when i was last there--the 10/25 is capped at 5k; the 25/50 is min 5k buy-in, no cap.
