If you are willing to be flexible, go to biddingfortravel.com for Priceline advise.

The Hotel San Remo is a good, cheap choice, now that it is conveniently located within walking distance from the MGM poker room.

I'd check out The Orelans. No, its not on the strip, but they have a good poker room and a free shuttle to the strip. A place on the strip that is cheap (and dumpy) is The Boardwalk. As long as you aren't trying to impress anyone, it'll do. Check out Cheapovegas for realistic hotel reviews.

Check the Monte Carlo . They have very reasonable rates, and even poker rates if you plan to play there. Nice poker room, too.

The Aladdin has a poker rate of $79 mid-week. I'm sorry, but I'm not sure of the weekend rate. The telephone number is 877-333-WISH, and the rate requires 6 hours of play.

The casino is close to the MGM, and it is a relatively short trip to the Mirage & Bellagio.

Good luck!

There are lots of places that you can get for under $100(during the week), Vegas is the most fluid hotel room market on the planet, but it makes you work for it. I have stayed at three different hotels on the strip over five days to get the best rates. What you pay depends on what you can put up with - moving, taking the monorail, walking. Do your homework.....

As others have said, lots of options.

My last 2 trips have been at the Barbary Coast and LV Hilton. Both are located nicely (Hilton right next to the monorail, although too far to walk anywhere).

If you get a LV Advisor coupon book, you can get the Hilton for 45 a night during the week and that is a steal. LVA

Back from the dead Bill?

I've stayed just about everywhere in Vegas. The past few times I've stayed at the Palace Station. It's a few miles from the strip, however, they provide free transportation to and from the strip, as well as the airport. You typically can get a room there in the $30 to $40 a night range. Check out the Travelworm or Vegas.com websites.

When are you going? If you are going now, then Barbary Coast and Imperial Palace are the only choices wed-sun that will average $100 or less per night and be mid strip within walking distance of Bellagio and Mirage.

If you don't need to be that close, then Sahara, Frontier, Stardust, Riviera, Circus Circus and Stratosphere may all cost less than $100 on average.

If you are going in August, all kinds of hotels will average under $100. Flamingo, Ballys, Luxor, Tropicana, Excalibur, just to start.

People really need to start qualifying their posts because there are so many options to choose from....like what are you looking to play, will you have a car, how nice of a place do you need to stay in, do you want a pool, etc....

Well I'll second the San Remo recommendation, if you like south strip. Aladdin is also nice, and Excalibur isn't horrible (but maybe not great if you don't plan on playing poker there).

Anybody know of any other good poker room rates? I'm looking for a cheap but kinda nice place to stay on the strip and play low limit during the WSOP. So far I'm leaning towards Imperial Palace (hopefully the place looks better on the inside than it does on the outside). They have a deal on their website for $65/night weekdays.

I heard a lot of people get a free night's stay in the Police Station on their trips to Vegas.

But hey what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas...

If your looking for cheap the Motel 6 on Tropicana will usually do for $40 to $60. Its about a block from the MGM Grand so its an easy walk to the strip. Not the greatest hotel ever but if you just want a place to sleep its ok.

Also, I stayed at the Barbary Coast last time out for und $100 a night. Decent room, pretty waitresses and great location.

Check out the Westward Ho also. They have HUGE hot dogs, Strawberry Short cakes and Margaritas and beers for cheap, if you're really on a budget. It's right by Circus Circus. All the big poker rooms like Bellagio and MGM are a little ways down the strip, however. If you have a car, it helps.

Whatever you do, book in advance, of course. I made that mistake once in my young life. Decided- hey, it's Vegas, we can find a room cheap, we don't need to pay in advance!

We ended up driving all over Vegas looking for a room. We even found some dump in downtown Vegas. It basically looked like a hotel a hooker would take a trick. Some old lady wanted $150 a night! Are you kidding!? We even went to a Howard Johnson that wasn't on the strip and they wanted $150 for a single.

So yeah, check out all the sites online and lock it in ahead of time.
