Official Message from Empire Poker

Dear Empire Poker Players,
Empire Poker management has decided to close accounts of few inactive players, who chose not to play on empire at all, but constantly claimed its bonuses.
All blocked accounts were chosen through very restricted ruling to prevent any active player from being harmed.
Empire Poker is known for its generous bonuses, FreeRolls and prize adding for long now. Empire does not appreciate players who take advantage of this generosity and chose to show up only to cash bonuses.

Each of the accounts closed, seemed to act according to the above and therefore was closed. However, we would like to inform that any cash that players have in their account balance will be cashed out by Empire directly back to the players.

Empire Poker will take all necessary steps to prevent players from playing only for bonuses on its tables, while keeping its active players satisfied and rewarded for their play through the VIP program, Royal Flush Club, reload bonuses, Tournament Masters program and more.

How do I know what is considered to be fraud?
Any account that shows almost zero activity between bonuses, and claims our reload bonuses continuously is subject to investigation.

If you are not playing only for bonuses, you can be safe and sound Empire Poker will continue to serve you humbly.

If you have any more concerns or suggestions please feel free to contact us.

Best regards,

Empire Poker

Yes you can. Reloads are designed to benefit their active players who play their all the time, not those who only come over for the bonuses.

In practice this is not the case. If you want to have a loyalty scheme it has to be available only to the loyal for it to be effective.

They may also ask Matt Sklansky to post their IP address in this thread. If IP is from Empire sub-net then most likely this is legit official poster.

Don't get me wrong, I'll be happy to get into it in 2009 after I play 400 hands a day for the honor.

Yes, you must beware those inactive players who don't play on your site at all, yet somehow manage to claim bonuses. But since they don't play on your site at all, what's the harm?

EmpirePR's brain has been square rooted it seems.

Because they will probably have corporate proxy to access Internet (Matt will see its address) and this IP will probably belong to PartyPoker/Empire subnet. I think there is 95% probability that if IP of this poster is not from Empire sub-net then this is not official poster.

Meanwhile, back at Empire headquarters..."We've created a bad bonus, that in some instances may not be profitable to us. Let's blame the player for our mistake (instead of raising the playthrough to ensure profitability) and close their account for a reason that we will keep secret from the player, causing the player to wonder if any money in his account will be returned to him. Furthermore, we will not contact the player, leaving the player to find out for himself that his account has been closed. We will make the player contact us, only to tell him that we have no details, but the decision is final with no appeals. If the customer insists on knowing what he did wrong, we will cite the 'we can do whatever the hell we want' clause of our user agreement."

Nothing matters. We know the problem now. It's those inactive players that never play on empire at all who claim bonuses that are screwing it up for us all.

What kind of square root idiot inactive player would claim a bonus if they never play on empire at all, as EmpirePR suggests? I mean, whats the point of claiming it if they never play on Empire?

But to get to the real square root point of it all, why does Empire care if an inactive player who never plays Empire at all claims a bonus anyways? It's not like the inactive player clears the bonus.

So whats the fking problem Empire? You square root inactive brain-fart!

Seriously... what is all this fuzz about.

They are a company, not a humanitarian charity organization.

Of course some of you like to get the monthly bonus and only play when theres a bonus. You have been doing that for a while. You have made a few hundred bucks...

Now its over. And not even close to a bad beat.

Go whine somewhere else!

nonetheless, probably generally true...however, i would guess that someone of "importance" that they would send out as a front person to hit the message boards, would at least have a minimally fuctional ability to communicate in unfractured english.

well... now that i think about what i just said...

This is why I stopped playing at Party and all skin sites. The attitude and greediness of the owners is unreal. Take Party Poker they keep 10% of the bad beat for themselves. Sometimes this is 20-70K the fee.
They don't want you to take the bonuses unless you play there all the time. What a joke. I am very happy NOT to play at Party or Empire.

Then they have been spamming people with an invitation to get their accounts banned. There is nothing in the T&C stating that you "cannot take advantage of the offers that we send you via email", rofl. Calling this fraud is just plain stupid. You don't invite someone over to dinner and then bitch at them for eating too much.

dumbass,

they're talking about players who never play during non reload periods, but show up on bonus day, deposit, clear the bonus, and cash out. this is minus EV for them, and they closed your account. just move on to a different site, that's all.

I e-mailed support at Empire this morning and posted a link to this thread. I asked them if the statement really was from them, and they said it is. The text of their response is below:

<font color="blue"> Thank you for contacting customer support.

Yes, this is indeed an official statement.

I totally agree with this. I'm starting to feel the same way about the party network that I do about Microsoft. I seriously might quit playing at there site. There are a lot of juicy games elsewhere. The only thing that is nice about the party network is the HH's being stored on the hard drive.

Thank You

Dear Empire,

Thank you for coming to this forum to explain your actions. I'm sure a lot of people here did not want to hear what you had to say. Nevertheless it is a lot easier to deal with the truth instead of an unending stream of rumors and speculation.

I think I speak for a lot of your good customers when I say that the last few days have been very frightening. VIP members should not feel that they need to log in twice a day to see if their account has been locked.

I also wish that you would reconsider your form letters in the future. A bonus hunter may be an unwelcome customer but he is not a cheat or a criminal. He broke no rules. Have the decency to tell him why you are closing his account without making vague accusations of suspicious activity. I'm sure you will be rewarded with both a better reputation and fewer complaints for Customer Service to process.

Certainly I will be happier. Some of the people you accused of wrongdoing are my friends.

You seem to have an account at 2+2 now. I hope that you will use it again when matters of importance or interest come up.

Thanks for your time.

Stop the bitching! It is very reasonable of them to do this. It is a way to still offer attractive bonuses to players, as opposed to not offering attractive bonuses and letting people whore them. BTW, the VIP club is nice- its more than a lot of other places offer, and I'm very happy with Empire in general. In fact, despite a higher rakeback offer at another party skin, I'm still playing at empire because I like the VIP program, tournament masters, and general ease of use. Just my $.02.
