Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

I'm looking at picking up a better set of chips than what I have now (dice) and would like to hear from some people that have used the Nexgens. Please give me your feedback on what you like/dislike and if you own them if you feel they were worth the money. I'd also like to know if you have purchased customized labels and what you think of the end results. Thanks in advance.

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

Bought a set of 500 Nexgens with Las Vegas edge spots from overstock.com for $130. Pretty sweet set, especially for the money. Much nicer that the dice ones we had been using. Got custom labels from www.customize-it.com. The samples he emailed me looked alot nicer than the finished project. When he reduced the images, they became very blurry. Also the inlays on the chips are slightly larger than the labels, so they look alittle wierd. Even with those problems they still look pretty sweet, although my Springer Spaniel got ahold of one and chewed it up.
Hope this helps
Brian

I think they are fantastic for the price. But thats the question, do you want to step up to the real deal or do you just want them to look like the real deal. Paulsons their not, but for the money and if you want them customized theres not many that compare.I run a local tournament once a month 20 to 40 people and every one there thinks their the bomb. I had labels printed up to match the name of our club. Cant say I would recomend the guy who did mine but if you do get labels for them get samples before you order 2000 of them. my colors were way off on two of my chip selections. They seem to be holding up well(the labels) after 4 3-table tournaments. Make sure you spray the labels with a matte protection coating like Krylon Preserve It. If I could figure out how to post a picture I would.

I bought some samples to evaluate for a tournament, and was impressed. Here's my chip census and price survey. The pictures are on the second page and the prices are on the third. I ended up just buying the 8000 series chip as I didn't want to pay the difference for the 8002; Since I was just buying samples, that might have been a mistake. I actually bought a few of each color and am glad. They're nice chips, incrimentally better than the 11.5g style, handle better, have less of a coin ring (though it's not quite gone). Mine came slightly unfinished from the manufacturing process and required some shuffling to mute sharp edges, etc. For $0.18 vs. $0.095, it had better be almost twice as good as a 11.5g dice chip, right? Buy some samples yourself and report back. I haven't gotten around to the sticker step yet, but I want to try it.

Couldn't be happier for the price. 750 w/ labels and a nice wood box. Jason did a pretty good job on the labels. If I every am not too lazy, I need to post some pictures. If I had 1000 dollars to spend I'd buy Clays in a heart beat. But for a couple hundred, go for the nexgens with labels.

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

after finding this forum I bought 1500 nexgens and had the labels done by http://www.ciretech.com/lynbark/ they were easy to work with and the turnaround was very quick and I was happy with the design. I wanted something quick until I could decide on a clay chip I like. The chips work great and everyone loves the customized labels. They shuffle ok and the stack size limit is around 20. They still have a metallic ring to them but not as bad as the dice chips. For the price they are great. I also like the faux clay chips that you can get for around $.06(still the best chip for the price) but I don't think labels would work to well with them. http://www.ciretech.com/lynbark/RIVE...EY%20STRIP.gif

out of curiousity, why do people hate 'dice' chips so much?

(they'd be a step up from what I'm using now --- but, if I'm going to be disappointed, I'd rather buy chips once, then rebuy in a short period of time).

Those labels look sweet man! Great to see another Bengals fan. But you forgot to get one of Madieu

I was debating whether or not to put rudi on the $25 but when they resigned him I went with all offense. I was going to put simmons or big willie on their if they didn't resign rudi. I like Madieu a lot. I was thinking of doing a Reds set as well since the nexgens are so cheap but they are on my crap list this year.

I'm very happy with mine, they're a great starter set. Easy to customize, and they're always a hit with guests. Warning, you may be tempted to spend more money later. Poker chips are like crack.

Can you only get Nexgen chips with Las Vegas and River Poker Tour on the edge? If I had to choose I would pick Las Vegas, just wondering if there are any other options.

I have these:

I really like them a lot. Jason did the labels. I used the Krylon protectant on the sheets of labels before I put them on. For the price, which was around $200 total for everything for 650 chips, I think it was well worth the money.

I think they handle and feel more like real casino chips, and even though they have an insert, they don't sound metallic when you toss them in a pot. I'd buy them again for sure.

Plus, it doesn't take months and months to get them, like custom chips.

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

I just got 1000 Vegas Nexgens in the mail (also to replace my dice chips) and they are great for the price. They stack and shuffle much easier and sound much nicer in my opinion. I ordered labels from Jason and will post pics of the final product when I get a chance.
Sorry for going slightly off topic but how necessary is it to use the spray that I've heard about? Is it essential for protecting the labels?

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

I ordered a sample pack of the River Poker Tour chips, and as much as I want to like them, I just can't. I love the looks of the 4 dual-color chips but they just feel too slick to me. They're definitely a softer type of slick than with the ABS dice chips, but I was expecting a grippy, softer feel like with my 13.5g stripe suited/double suited chips, which look worse but feel amazing.

i got 1000 of them for 23 cents ea. ($233.90 ship included) from vegassuppliesandgifts.com with the 20% promo coupon you can get floating around. Little better then overstocks price and I can choose the color quantity as well more colors to choose from.

I'm also thinking of getting some of these chips and have a sample that I'm playing with. The cheapest site I've found for these is https://www.discountcasinogear.com/.

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

I like my nexgens alright, they take labels well, the colors are attractive and they play/stack acceptably. They are a little slick for my taste, but not nearly like dice chips or whatever. They splash well and are easy to cut. I ordered from discountcasinogear but I would recommend 5stardeal instead. I found CS and shipping to be lacking from DCG.com. I love 5stars CS and the flat $20 shipping can't be beat.

If you don't need the security of custom chips, check out the ASM no edgespot chips from pokerchips.com. Much better quality just unoriginal and a bit boring.

edit: oh, check those ASM chips out because my nexgens + labels + racks + $30 case + shipping everything cost me $0.34/chip. You can get real clay non edgespots for $0.35 + ship.

that is a nice price 1000pc. set with case for $199.99 how much shipping they charge you? (was $17.91 to New Mexico for me for the same set at vegassuppliesandgifts)

Re: Need Input From Nexgen Owners/Users

$199 + $21 for shipping to Kansas City.
If you get 5 of the 200 chip sets, it's only $175 + $25 for shipping. Odd that the smaller sets are cheaper.

sorry, It was from 5stardeal on ebay. Theyre more exspensive on their site, and maybe in their ebay store. Their auctions go for 79.99 for 500, so I got two sets and got a break on shipping to come to $195.

What do you print those labels on? Can you buy blank stickers to print on? My fiance is a graphic artist and would love to be able to get a hold of some sheets of that.

www.onlinelabels.com
www.data-labels.com

the 1" round permanent labels are what you want. Best bet is a laser printer.

Any recommendations as to which kind works best on poker chips?
