Turning it up a notch (or two)
I've been playing the $20 SNG's fairly successfully (ROI 16-17%) over 900 in. I've checked Aleomagus' confidence program and I'm confident I'm a winning player at this level. However, I've seen other players cite ROI's in the 20-25% neighborhood and I'm curious what I can do to attain that level. I've noticed my ITM% is 40% which seems to be identical as these players, however my results are not flat, but rather skewed towards third place finishes (at a ratio of roughly 100 1sts, 110 2nds, 120 3rds). For those who have attained this higher level, what are likely areas I need work on to level out the finishes and get my ROI to that next level? Thanks in advance.

Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
I am somewhat new to SnGs so I need to know what ROI and the other pertinent stats mean, not just the ones used in your post though
But as for advice, you have WAY too many second place finishes. Once you are in the money you should be playing solely to win. This is the one piece of advice I can offer |

Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
I'd like some investing tips so I can get rich in the stock market. Anyone? Thanks.
eastbay PS Your question is far too vague. Ask specific questions. |
Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
How aggresive are you on the bubble?

Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
Could be bad luck.
You've been ITM 330 times. Say each time you get dealt 20 hands on average. That's only 6600 ITM hands - very very easy to be running bad with that small of a sample. |
Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
And that should tell you why people that post that they've played 15 or 50 SnGs and are ready to quit their jobs are laughed at.

Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
I appreciate the suggestion eastbay, but it's hard to be more specific because I am not sure what I'm not doing. I guess I was hoping for more of a diagnostic, like, oh, disproportionate thirds could mean A, B, or C. Maybe that's not possible. Oh, and BTW, have any good stock tips? Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
Zaphod,
Fairly aggressive, but I don't go crazy. I've molded my play to the SNG power tools and seem to be doing pretty well with it. |
Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
Al P,
I see your point and hope that's what it is, although I'm doubtful. |
Re: Turning it up a notch (or two)
The most common way here to improve ROI is to leave losing sessions out from whatever tracking program you are using. Maybe you were tired, played badly or someone stupidly called your AA with 27o and knocked you out. Whatever reason just leave these losing sessions out and you can post on these message boards about your 25%+ ROI.
