Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
the kid acted like a punk. He got schooled by both Humberto and the accountant. HU, the accountant outplayed him by far.
Still, he won. Has to have skills to have done so. Wait, does Eric Brenes have skills??? |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
Tuan Lee in my mind is absolutely awful. Played almost every single hand, said Raise the most gayest way possible, doesnt know how to throw away a hand, got lucky twice to win 2 big pots that he shouldnt of won and then to top it off he cant even throw his chips in right. I really don't know how he even made it to the final table.
Thats just me though. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
If I was Temp, the WPT for the next 5 minutes would be filled with beeps. That was the worst thing for Temp. He outplayed the punk Tuan (who actually thought he was playing better than Temp) and got sucked out on when he put all in as a 4 to 1 favorite.
You got to feel for the guy . |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
No doubt that Tuan was outplayed by a wide margin.
|
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
As much of a tool that Temp seemed - I mean, what was with all the drama ALL the time? - you gotta feel for the guy. He outplayed Tuan Lee as much as Layne Flack outplayed Eric Brenes last week.

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
Btw most of us saw Tuan get schooled on L@TB, another notch against him

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
I couldn't stand Tuan and wanted him to lose much like everyone else here, but quit with the complaining about him sucking out.
Is that not part of Poker? Don't you have to face the fact that even when you play the best hand and play it by the book you will sometimes lose? That is the nature of the game, deal with it and move on. Those "best hands" will sometimes lose, all you can do is to keep playing the best way you know how and eventually you should beat the suck outs. Go ahead complain about how dumb Tuan sounded or how he seemed in capable of throwing his chips in right, but quit complaining about suckouts, you guys sound like Helmuth. |

[/ QUOTE ] Um....who's complaining about suckouts? If Lee had lost I'd still say that Temp and Brenes outplayed his ass. It's just more entertaining because he happened to suck out a number of times after making the wrong play. Relax, Dude. It'll be okay. Really. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
I think both Temp and Tuan played horribly.
Ac7c AI call against Humberto with a 7s getting shown? Very bad call IMHO. >TW< |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
Read the other thread where Temp explains why he made this call. If Brenes was going all in almost every hand at that point, Ace High could very well be the best hand.

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
I also thought Lee was outplayed by both Brenes and Temp. I wanted to see either of those two win and Lee lose, but obviously it wasn't meant to be. Luck was on Lee's side. But what can you do? Just strap in a little tighter and sign up for the next tourney. Although you GOTTA be upset after losing $600,000 to someone playing worse than you.

[/ QUOTE ] Sucking out sure is part of poker. Doesn't mean you can't vent about it. I mean if the young man was kind, respectful, and acted like he was lucky when he got lucky(instead of acting like that's what's supposed to happen). Someone would say "good luck" and he wouldn't even acknowledge them. I'm not a very good poker player because my memory isn't the best BUT his luck was scary and he acted like he outplayed em all. Dragon A9 Tuan A4 Tuan wins Berman KK Tuan AK Tuan wins Tuan 78 Temp 9Q(Ithink it was a Queen) Tuan wins Didn't he suck out on Brenes as well? Don't get me wrong the fella was RELENTLESS. He wasn't scared and when you play that way then you do come across lucky. His AK was supposed to win 32% of the time against Berman's KK. Rant over |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
It was K9.
Tuan did come back over quickly and congratulate Temp on a great game, and tell him he was a very tough opponent. Temp also said "I thought I had you" and Tuan said "You did". I didn't like him either, but he seemed to play playing to win, and making some PF call to take the pot away post flop, then getting stuck making some nasty calls ala Gus Hansen. For example, the 84s vs AQs hand, he called a big PF raise, then on the rag board was getting about 2:1 on him money to call Temp's all-in. If he didn't figure temp for a pocket pair he was getting close enough odds with 10 outs. I hated the play, but there was probably some logic behind it. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
But $600,000? I lost a $35,000 dollar real money pot in a tourney once and I still think about it. 600 is a lot of money

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
You can't tell if someone got lucky by watching TV. If Tuan picked up as many pots as Barry G. hints at, and then draws out, he is not getting lucky. If you and I are headsup with 10,000 chips, and I steal 5,000 from you, and then go all in with A9 to your AK, and win, I am not purely sucking out. Do you see why? Anyone who has read Supersystem should be aware of this.

[/ QUOTE ] hail, hail. there was a reason tuan made all those raises- and that a-k vs. k-k hand was either a bad read or overconfidence if berman has j-j down he probably folds. (but that was pretty brutal - kudos to berman for taking it well) I couldn't stand temp - ever all-in to him was absolute drama - "what could you have what could you have" I can't be the only one who thinks that 1.2 mil call with a-7 was horrible - he played suited cards religiously - probably would've folded if a club had been exposed instead of the seven! |

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
How can you say you didn't purely sucked out? Of course you did. How he played before or after has nothing to do with whether you sucked out on this hand. You are a fairly big dog so this is a suckout no matter how you slice it.

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
im actually glad berman got sucked out on. thats some sort of retribution for him sucking out against Doyle in the 2004 WSOP.

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
I didn't see the TiVod episode until yesterday. I don't see what all the fuss is about. I never saw Le acting like a punk, or like it was his awesome poker skill that allowed him to hit his 3-outer vs Berman. He was pretty quiet the whole time.
Would he NOT be a punk if he had jumped around yelling "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!" when his 4-1 favorite held up? What about if he scoffed at his opponent for the cards he played (which Hutter did) or did a backward dive onto the poker table when he won? When it got three-way, he had in the neighborhood of 5 millions chips, to 950,000 for Brenes and Hutter each. When you have that kind of chip advantage you don't have to wait and peddle the nuts... heck, you might even be able to win with a suckout hand like 10-2. And with that chip lead, you'd BETTER be playing most pots. Nobody at the final table got there without some skill, some good bluffs, some good calls, and some suckouts. If the producers chose to show more of his lucky breaks to fit him into a role, realize that's TV. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
You are right, he was quite gracious, and I am sure he made some of his own luck.
Not many people would fold KK at a short table with money in the pot. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
I finally got through the show and actually thought it was better played than a lot of the WPT episodes. At least the heads-up lasted more than two hands.
But what we all want to know is, where did the name Temperance come from? There's gotta be a story there. |

But what we all want to know is, where did the name Temperance come from? There's gotta be a story there. [/ QUOTE ] It's a family name that has been passed down several generations. If you want a better story - I had a judge laugh out loud at me when he read my name in his courtroom. He thought it was ironic (and apparently funny) that someone named Temperance (look it up in the dictionary if you don't already know) was in front of him on a DUI charge. I am not proud of that moment, but it has been 16 years so I can look back and laugh as well. |
Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
Hey Temp, let me just say I enjoyed the way you played, even the long waits for you to call, fold, or raise, where it looked like you were really thinking about it. However, we all know you were actually dreaming about Shana Hiatt.

Best part of the show - the look on Nam Le's face when they show him in the audience after Tuan calls the all-in with 84s.

Re: Tuan Lee - luckiest mofo in WPT history after Eric Brenes?
There will be a lot of unhappy Tuan Le haters when they hear the news.
