What makes dealers the most mad?
Dealers, please chime in without saying "people who don't tip"
Players, give your opinion My guess is that its people who constantly can't remember how much it is to bet in a fixed limit game. |
Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
I believe it is the story I heard of where some guy unzipped and urinated on the dealer under the table

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
In addition to people not paying attention, I would imagine people who don't put their bets or muck their cards in far enough. After 8 hours it must get painful leaning into the table that much.

Throwing cards at the dealer's face

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
The drunk guy playing out of a rack that counts his chips one at a time, anyone who splashes the pot even after being told not to do so, the 10 minute staredown while deciding to call one bet with $300 in the pot in a 4-8 game, and most of all, the player that blames the dealer for every bad hand he plays.

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
The only time a dealer ever got pissed at me was when I wasnt putting my bets far enough out. She was real short and I was in the 8 seat so I was farthest away from her. I wasnt being a dick or anything I just was putting my bets as far as my arm would reach. She would remind me and I would do better then forget after awhile. The 3rd time she asked me she had a definite edge of bitchiness to her voice. I shoved my chips somewhat hard towards the middle of the table and they lay in a haphazard pyle short of the pot. To this she said in a shrill bitchy voice, "Sir, please do not shove your chips." [censored], bitch. I still tipped her though.

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
How about that guy that asks for a setup change every 30 minutes?

Each time they put their bets out a little further from the dealer to see how far they can get the dealer to stretch for them. I think a line on the table where this sort of thing was most common has helped a lot. |

How about that guy that asks for a setup change every 30 minutes? [/ QUOTE ] This one has to hurt at the end of the night when counting tips. I would guess that it takes at least the amount of time required to deal 2 hands to spread them and get dealing again. That amounts to $2 gone for the dealer. |

Quite odd. |

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
(I'm a dealer)
7 Stud: "Antes please" every freaking hand. I ask for antes while I'm shuffling and I have to ask AT LEAST twice almost every single hand. Soooo annoying. All other games in no particular order: Players placing bets one millimeter in front of their stack so I have to stretch for it, even though I repeatedly ask them to "Please place your chips out a little further...thanks." Players asking for a set up every 10 minutes. Players bitching at ME because I brought the "wrong card". Hey, I bring the next card in the deck every time....sorry if it wasn't what you want. Players throwing cards/chips at me. When a player asks, "Who raised it?". Well, the guy with more chips in front of him than anyone else in the hand. "You're the big/small blind". Then player asks me "What is it to me?" Holy sh*t...you really don't what the blinds are at the game you've been playing? LMAO. |
Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
wow...interesting responses...wheres the ethical answers boys n girls?
Here what irks me dealin: Players berating other players or whining about the bad beat in the same terms of how bad the player is. Any form of shlt disturbance that certain players like or tend to create when they are losing. Puts a real bad "thickness" in the air that is not good for the game. Oh and dont call me a mudda fukka. We could have serious problems. And some players are stupid enough to do this in the 1 or 10 seat. The elbow is the hardest bone in the body. Not a good idea when the dealer has position on you. General things that are just aggravating: 2,3, 7,8 seats lose a hand and realease the cards not 1/2 inch from their stacks on the largest table in the room and give the "dealer stare down". I sit back and wait till the get thrown within reach. Play the baby crap with someone else. Acting out of turn, and most often what I mean is mucking before the player in front of you has completed his bet (or announced it) thus allowing him to raise after he sees 1-4 people beyond him have alredy mucked. Please players...offer protection to the other players in the hand. It used to be floor people understood this and would support me in this...not so much so anymore. Any and all "shot takers". Especially the ones thatare trying to steal the pot on a nit technicallity. Such as a player shows the winner and then turns it over and thows it forward(face down). A shot taker tries to steal the pot suggesting the hand was mucked. "Cards speak" rule applies, or should, and it's usually a new player that turns his hand over like this. Dont run out the live ones or new players. I'm sure I can come up with more but I must go to work now! Basically ethical situations are what gets me the most. I wish everyone learned from Tommy Angelo and others like him on conduct at the card room. |
Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
So far, I as a player am disturbed by these things too.
These thoughts come and go during a typical table: {sarcasm is our friend] HOLD THE GAME UP MORE PLEASE! MISTER 'I CAN'T REMEMBER HOW MUCH I CAN BET' after 4 hours of play! I'm sorry sir the dealer is 5' tall not Magic Johnson. By all means raise on the button every time you have it, so we have to have another long pause in the game. Yes, definitely go to the can on your BB. Please do leave your plate of half eaten smelly food on the tray table next to us. Curse when you win or lose, we like that! Please hide your cards so no one knows you are still in. -Bri |

But I guess that's not good for tips.... |

Re: What makes dealers the most mad?
--Adults who act like children. Sulking. Pouting. Throwing things.
--There is no reason to swear. None. If I ever become a cardroom manager, I'm fining everybody $1 for everything past "hell" or "damn", with the money going to charity. You don't have to pay the fine--and we don't have to deal to you. Some of these guys start dropping ten or twenty bucks a night, they will straighten up, or go be miserable somewhere else. --If the dealer asks you to slide over to your left, he doesn't mean "wiggle in your chair". He means MOVE THE DAMN CHAIR, and more than a quarter-inch. The wiggle bothers me; the quarter-inch bothers me; but my favorite is the look I get after the quarter-inch, which is clearly, "What? You expect me to move MORE than that? I'm making every effort to cooperate, dealer, and you're being totally unreasonable!" Yeah, like I WANT to stop the game and haggle with you over territory. --Believe it or not, the actual poker stuff mentioned (not knowing the bet, playing out of turn, making me stretch) doesn't even bother me. I understand that when your brain is focused on the game, some of the auto-pilot things don't get done. --IOW, it's the between-hands crap that irritates me. |

The confused guy says "All afternoon". |
