Is this really that bad?

I'm investing 1 SB for a blind steal, which is an excellent deal. My hand is also not likely to be dominated by anybody who calls me.

I'm serious here, is there really no merit to this play?

If you are being serious, it is not really anything that would really work to well as a blind steal because you said the table vpip was close to 50 which is huge. That means you are getting callers almost everytime. Other than that it is fun and it can spice up your night for a mere $1.

No, I'm being serious. I'm trying to find the thread where I did this with K5o at 2/4, and several posters mentioned that if this happened when they've posted in the CO, they're raising any two.

Raising here is +EV.

How is it +EV to raise any two cards from the posted CO position? I guess I can see it might be if you steal the blinds every couple times you try it, but the real question is when someone calls you, I think you are bound to lose more money than it's worth trying, especially if the button decides to play and if he raises you just lost another sb.

I just think it's not worth the trouble of raising.

I agree! Raising to "steal the blinds" is a good play, with
only the dealer and the blinds left in the hand.

Guys, I'm not joking. I'll search for the thread I have in SS about this, or get someone who is better than me with equity and math to show why I like this.

Suffice to say, I'm not joking. I like this play.

The only way I don't like this is if button is 100% VPIP.

Anytime I post and it gets folded to me, I raise no matter what I got. Since I only post in the CO, it is a good play.

come on guys! you should be raising with any 2 cards in this spot. reread the live blinds chapter in HPFAP

that book has lost so much respect since SSH came out. it's a shame. I got a ton out of it

I agree, but I think it's also because a lot of the newer crop of players haven't read it (I'm assuming here, I can't really prove that) because we always push SSH on them (which of course is a good idea). But I don't like seeing "HPFAP doesn't apply..." stuff. There are definitely some spots that still apply - ie. The "When it's 3 bets before the flop section" - it's small but I believe it holds fairly well in micro games.

Yeah entity I kind of like it now. You are basically only playing this hand for the steal raise. So if it works more than 1 out of 2.5 times you are making money. Fold to any 3-bet pf and make sure not to lose anymore money if it gets called by 1-3 players.

No, because you've got odds even if you get 3-bet.

If you get 3-bet, see the flop, and decide from there. But yes, this is mainly being done as a steal.
