Pick the \"best\" chip of the bunch...

I put these chips in front of my Mom, and said "pick which one you like best." Which one do you think she chose?

I'm thinking the nice, plain, simple super diamond.

Well, if she was your mom, she'd probably do a bit of "research" on which ones you had made before she answered.

She's your mom, so she picked the Egyptian one.

If not that, I say the horsehead

Did she pick them up and handle/play with them, or just choose on looks only?

You know mom...

picked your chip. BTW, it IS the nicest looking one in that bunch.

I'm guessing it was the pink "all-in" chip...or the "cool" gold-stamped PoS.

Probably your egyptian chipco that kind of makes it unfair, take that one out of the mix then re-issue the survey

I think that's a metal inlay matsui chip...

anyway, I vote for the red hot-stamped dice chip

Hey wait a second... it's rigged... putting a $500 chip amongst those lower value chips... what else would she choose!

Jeez: even MY Mom knows that the Egyptian set is your custom set.

If the other custom art is a dog in a graduation cap (hard to make out the picture), I'm going with that one. Otherwise: ooo pink.

She immediately liked the Matsui coin-inlay chip. She didn't even look very hard, hence not noticing that one of mine was in there. She was "drawn" to the metal inlay apparently.

Correct, Elwood. I was only pointing out that it was not a hot stamp and then I went on to vote for the hot stamped chip. Rats. I never win anything.

Sorry Elwood, You're right too. I didn't get past "hotstamped" in your answer, which would be the red Dice chip with a hotstamped "$5" on it. The coin inlay is not hotystamped, but I see that's what you meant.

Not surprised on the matsui coin-inlay chip. They have a great look and feel, though the plastic's a little too slippery for my taste.

Too bad they can't get the plastic to match the classic Bud Jones chips. That would be killer.

What's the deal with that NJ skull design...

Does anyone here own them and like them?

(and yeah I get 'dead man's hand' reference)...

That's what my g/f said, too, when I got my samples. "But, the metal one is cool!"

Ugh.

I have a sample of the NJ skull composite chip....they're pretty meh.

You have to excuse a chip n00b, but what kind is that white chip at the top left?

I am asking because my PokerStars chipset is that kind of chip.

It's commonly called a "suited" 11.5g chip. It is injection molded, ABS plastic, with a metal insert to give it weight. Without the insert, it is 7 grams (I know this because I own the "pre metal" version). It is usually referred to as "composite" or even "clay composite" if the seller is a bit of a truth stretcher. It's probably the most common type chip out there. There are many designs, but the most popular is called the "dice" chip, and this "suited" chip is the second most popular.

Update: I did the same experiment with my Dad. I didn't include my own Chipco, but replaced it with a stock "advertising" chipco chip.

His first choice: The black WPT chip.
Second choice: The Chipco. He made comments about the feel, weight, and quality of it.
Third: The coin inlaid Matsui.

I have some of the Matsui coin inlay chips. The plastic on those chips feel very cheap to me. Hollow sounding unlike the Bud Jones chips.
