Hey King... didn't recognize your post initially--don't think I've see your bassett hound avatar before.

Still at t1455--seen just one flop, I believe.

Re: Magic Pig Table 101

I wish I had that luck.

I pickup QQ and make it 65 to go. Folded to maniac who has doubled up once already. He calls, everyone else folds.

Flop is A rag rag. I bet out 90, he calls. Turn is a blank, and I check behind him. River is another brick, but he's the kind of person who would play a medium/low ace, so I meekly check behind him.

He shows A8.

Hey Nick,

You recently played in the Friday night at Bellagio, right? When do they run satellites? I'm planning on heading over there next month.

Wow.

Still no action for me. Got T-T UTG and was hoping to see the flop... limped in, along with four others. Button raised to t165 and I fold.

Lloyd,

I played in one of the smaller 5 diamond classic events, not the Friday night event. But I would say that they probably run satellites Thursday night and throghout the day Friday? Its prety easy to call their card room, I'd just do that.

That sucks, dude. What's her point/strategy? To just get in the money?

Be careful with someone like that... they sometimes suddenly bet big or go all-in, and people are overanxious to call them, hoping to knock them out of the game quick... and they turn over AA or KK.

3145 @ First Break, Table 30, Magic Pig

Been in a few pots since my double up with a net gain of about 200.

Zinzan 12-19-2004 12:05 AM

First Break

t2095 at table 80. Doubled up with KK in CO. Had one or two limpers in front of me, and I made it 150 to go (BB=30). One caller.

Flop came 882, he checks, and I bet t300. He pushes. I'm thinking there's no way he called my PF raise with an eight, unless he's got 88. If so, good for him. I call. He turns over... 8-9o!!! Wow. Fortunately, I hit a king on the river, and he's pissed. "You got lucky! You got lucky!" No more lucky than he was to hit anything on the flop!

Anyway, I needed that. txchic/modaddy was watching and gave me a congratulations. Thanks!

Re: First Break

Down to t1100. Had been up to t3000 or so, but I got into a t1600 pot with AJ of spades. Flop came xxx with two spades. I check, guy goes all in for about t1200, and another dude raises all in to about t1600. I didn't like making this play, but with pot odds to the nut flush, I decided to call. Missed, and QQ takes it.

Re: First Break

I'm out in two hands. TT in EP raise and called by SB. AK on the flop and he leads out, I muck. Then it's folded to SB who raises. I have K9s, not a powerful hand of course but I decided to make a play. He had A4s and called (probably a worst decision than me re-raising with K9s) and his hand held up. In hindsight I probably should have mucked and was probably on tilt a little because I lost a 3rd of my stack to the same guy who called my pre-flop raise with JJ and then TT and bet with overcards on the flop.

Well, I don't like Q2 very much to begin with, but in the end, you had the better hand at the turn. Bad luck on the river.

Re: First Break

WebGuySteve..that was a tough beat, but I wonder if just folding preflop may be the best play there. I hate to fold the BB to a min raise by the SB, but I also hate playing a hand like Q2 there even more.

Zinzan 12-19-2004 01:16 AM

Second break

t2267 (average is t4112). Doubled up with 55 all-in against AQ. Took me to almost t3000. Later, I had AJ in the SB, folded to me, and I raised the BB (150) to 500 (meant to put in 400, but had a typo). BB came back at me strong and I laid my AJ down. He shows AK. That typo cost me t100 :/.

AKs first hand after the break. UTG, I push. Folded around. After the blinds are stolen back from me, I'm back to t2267. On the button, I push KJ, called by the SB with 99, and I hit a QJK flop. I'm now at t4734.

Well, if the SB is min raising me, I know he won't flop a pair more often than not, so I can probably get him off of the pot with a raise like I did on the flop, and since he did pair, it didn't work. Though, I don't understand his reraise, and with my flush draw I had to call that. Then I hit the Q and the story pretty much ends there. I was thinking about folding it preflop, but I felt I could outplay him after the flop, so I took my shot.

Snapped off a flush draw to get up to 5kish, then 3 hands later my AK got it all in vs. TT. No help, and I'm down to 1300. /whine.

Why do you prefer PS over Party? Is it just the format (and certainly with 1500 chips tonight's event had a good format) or is there more to it? How do the players match up? I've never played on PS but am giving some thought to at least playing occasionally over there.

Zinzan 12-19-2004 02:17 AM

Third Break

Somehow climbed up to t16K at my peak. Not sure how it happened. I was low stack for a while, and played aggressively with any decent ace or pair, and managed to steal and win coinflips. Then got a QQ that held up pretty well. Came back over a raise on my blinds with AKs, and he folded...

After getting to 16K, I slowed down for a while, no steal attempts or anything... got blinded down to 14.9K or so... on the button, it was folded to me with 9-5o. I went a head and tried to steal with a $1000 bet at the $400 blind. He was a shortstack, went in the tank, and pushed for $1950. Well, it was only $950 back to me with a $3500 pot, so I called. His Ax held up, though.

So I'm down to t13K. Average stack is... t8900.
