Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Greetings, I would like to see what kind of interest people would have in getting custom clay chips that are designed after the chips Teddy KGB uses. I e-mailed pokerchips.com and she can't reuse their actual logo, but she sent me the colors they used. If people are interested, I'll design a file with a bear and red numbers and see if she's ok printing it.
Ten used escrow when he did his order and I'm open to that - the fees seem fairly low - about 150 - 200 - and the design work would be done by me for free. Who's interested? |

Pictures will get you a huge boost in interest...

Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
im pretty sure 'fsuplayer' has those chips. maybe he can chime in and show some of his chips. they are really nice, a cool design.

Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Would you be able to get the right edgespots? I believe KGBs chips were black with four quarter inch neon green edges spots. Will pokerchips.com allow you to do that?
Sounds cool, Post some pics and im sure youll get a big response. Good Luck [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] |

Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
I would definitely be up for a group buy of "Rounders" chips as long as we try to make them as much like Teddy KGB's chips as possible without copyright infringement. I would be in for 700-1000 chips.
Sounds like a great idea. |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Yeah man, god forbit you infring the Rounders copyright and the feds bust your door down for having chips similar to the movies....
are you actually serious about that? |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
I would definately be interested, but do you think we would be able to get the right edgespots?

Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Add me to the list of those who would be willing to go in for 1000 chips.
I'd like to have them be as close to the movie chips as possible. And the higher the quality the better. Count me in. Regards, Francis |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
I had the KGB Rounders chips made about a year ago and love them. they are the exact same except for the edge spots, which are slightly different due to pokerchips.com policies. for casino protection, they wont do anything but 1/2" edge spots.
the chip I got is the roman border chip. the colors and denomination I got were as follows. $1 White w Green Edge Spots (you never see white chips in the movie, so I just picked the ones I liked.) $5: Red w Light Blue Edge Spots (similar to the imperial blue) $25: Green w DG Orange (my favorite chip, awesome colors) $100: Black w DG Green Edge Spots $500: I could tell which color they used in the movie, looks chocolate in some scenes and purple in others, so I got the Purple w Arc Yellow (cool chip). and for practical reasons, I didnt get the denominations on the chips. so pokerchips.com resized and centered it. So the chips arent the exact ones from rounders, but similar, and I love them just the same. i will try to post some pics in a couple of days. btw, just ask pokerchips.com for some bear pics on file for chipart, they have the exact image. |

[/ QUOTE ] phixxx, I was simply acknowledging the fact that the chips we can get from pokerchips.com may not be EXACTLY the same as the ones in the movie and that I would be ok with that. In case you didn't know, many places that make custom poker chips are quite careful about avoiding copyrighted material to cover their asses. I was specifically referring to the original post in this thread where eric said that they would not reuse the original logo from the movie. BTW, you are a douchebag. |

Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
guys-
here is a link to the artwork that pokerchips.com sent me to approve for my chips. btw- one cool thing is that once you order a set of chips from them, you can reorder any # of chips at any time if your chip set so desires. Rounder's Bear Proof username: pokerchips password for the link:artwork hope that works fsuplayer |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
I went ahead and did a rough draft of the chips. See them below (I hope, this is my first time posting images).
Also: No, we cannot do any spot pattern other then the simple 3 stripe. If we do clay we won't be able to do the spot identical to the movie. Cathy gave me the colors for a 1 and 5 chip for KGB's, but we never see it in the movie. I don't like the pink on the 1 so I vote to modify it. Also, I want a 1,000, 5,000 and maybe 10,000 chip. (I will use this set for tournaments probably). So, I will need to make those colors up. I prefer to stick with kind of standard colors and use gray or yellow for 1K, brown for 5K and pink for 10K. With all those colors the set will look pretty sexy too. I'm open to making a $.25 chip too - that would be probably orange. With regards to pricing - I think it's safe to estimate it at about a buck a chip. Cathy says $85/100 plus $50 for the custom printing (I don't know if it's per denom, or one fee). Shipping is a bitch because they are HEAVY. Shipping for 1,000 to me was about $75. Plus, escrow. So, about a buck a chip is a safe bet - I don't know if we'll get a large enough order to get a price break but I'm willing to try and to see what Kardwell can do. I think that's it. Let me know what you think. http://www.rocketstar.com/temp/chips/kgb1.jpg http://www.rocketstar.com/temp/chips/kgb5.jpg http://www.rocketstar.com/temp/chips/kgb25.jpg http://www.rocketstar.com/temp/chips/kgb100.jpg http://www.rocketstar.com/temp/chips/kgb500.jpg |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Hi Eric,
thanks for driving this! The artwork you provided is simple and clean, which is nice. However, I'm disappointed to hear Kardwell will only allow the 3 stripe patterns. It makes the chip look pretty bland IMO. I was hoping we could go with multiple stripes, similar to the excellent Nevada Jack chips. They've got great striping and quality (I wonder if they do customs). Also, would the back of the chips have a different image than the bear? Again, thx for driving this. See this page for examples of NJ chips Nevada Jack Stripes Regards Francis |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Heres a better pic of a white and pink chip(Dayglo though I think)
Its not that bad, but white and red would probably look better http://pokerchips.com/chips/images/S3_r1_c1.jpghttp://pokerchips.com/chips/images/S3_r1_c2.jpg |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
I really like KGB's simple logo and denomination font. However, it would've been cooler to get the fancier edge-spots.

Re: My Chip Pics!
fsuplayer:
Do you know if all of the roman mold chips have that shine to them? I REALLY like the way those look. And if only chustom pokerchips.com ones with the center are like that, then im DEFINATLY saving my money for them. BTW: AWESOME CHIPS! By far, one of my favorite color schemes, and chips in general. |
Re: My Chip Pics!
Also, you positive that the orange on the green is DG orange? It looks kinda light for the pics posted on PC.com.
Thanks. |
Re: My Chip Pics!

yeah, i think all the custom chips from that site do, center design or not. BTW: AWESOME CHIPS! By far, one of my favorite color schemes, and chips in general. thank you. I love the chips. the feel, look and sound are just awesome. the only thing I dont love is the wait for the chips to be produced and shipped, it can take a while. gl with your purchase guys! |
Re: My Chip Pics!

Re: My Chip Pics!
whoever is doing this, i will sign up for 1000 chips too, if they look like fsuplayer's.
PM me |
Re: My Chip Pics!
If anyone is still going to carry this on, im interested.
I just found out the custom chips i wanted, were alot more. Would we be using the roman mold, or the horsehead? I love the colors of fsuplayer's so they are great for me. Lets see if we can get this going. |
Re: Group Buy - Teddy KGB chips
Also, i was even thinking that we could do about the same color, with the 4 edgespots with TR King chips. If we get 5000, they price would only be .70 each.

Order update
Ok everyone, I have been looking around and I think that TR King is going to be the best company to order from. We can get three different styles from them: dual color 3 spot, single color 4 spot, and single color 5 spot. In Rounders the 500 chip has 6 spots, but we'll have to made due. So, we'll do 4 spots for the 25 and 100 and the 5 for the 500. We can do whatever we want for other denoms since they are never in the movie so I'm leaning towards a non spotted chip for .25, 4 spot for 1 and 5, and a dual color spot for 1000, 5000, and any other higher ones that people want. The thinking is the chips go from plain to more complex and the value increases.
What does everyone think? Also, so far the following people are interested, anyone else? wacki, leetpants, daryn, lebowski58, Francis, KungFuSandwich, and Fightin’ Engineer |
Re: Order update
know i am pissed that i already have a set. those sound awesome!
|
Re: Order update
I'm interested in the $25, $100, and $500 chips, if that's possible.
|
Re: Order update
I may be interested once the final proof and price are established.

Re: Order update
Is it possible to ship to Norway? I really like the design, and I would be interested in 3-500 chips (is that to small amount?) and what would the price be?
Merry Christmas |
TR King
Great idea ericslagle on using TR King. can you post a mockup of what the TR Kings would look like? i am definately willing to buy TR Kings. having different edge spots is a must for me. i am lookin to buy some chips for my low stakes cash games. i would want .25, $1, $5, and $25 chips and possibly a few $100s.
i noticed there is no blue chip. i think the $1 should be blue with 4 white edge spots. 25cent should be yellow with no edge spots. $5 should of course would be red with blue edge spots. TR King is located in downtown Los Angeles. My dad actually went to their factory and talked with the general manager Dennis O'Neill and gave me thier business card. I could possilby pick up the chips from their warehouse and then ship them out to everyone. |
Re: Order update
I'm definately interested for about 500 if the price is right. This is an awesome idea. Count me in!
