Holdempokerchips.com ----- can\'t return Copags after opening.
Just got a set of Copags in the mail. I opened them and realize they were bridge size. It was my fault, I read the website wrong, but aparently there is no exchanging after you open the cards. Is this the norm?

I think this is normal. They offer the copags for real cheap, and once they are open, they can not sell them as new. Since they are only $12, it would cost half of that to ship them back and another $6 to have another deck shipped to you (you would be responsible for shipping both ways since they did not make the mistake). You might as well keep them or offer them as a prize in one of your games.

I thought casino poker cards were bridge size. Am I wrong?

I think those are nice, provided they aren't Jumbo Index.
I like bridge size a lot better for hold‘em. I have a set of Copags coming in - Elite Design backs in green and burgundy (bridge size and regular index) – from a seller on eBay. Once they come in and review them, if all turns out to be positive, I’ll post here about the seller. They are a pretty good deal, $14.96 (including the $0.01 shipping) for a set up. |

I thought casino poker cards were bridge size. Am I wrong? [/ QUOTE ] Nope. In fact, I prefer the bridge size cards. They are somewhat easier to handle, among other things. |

I thought casino poker cards were bridge size. Am I wrong? [/ QUOTE ] it's funny but i'd say the majorty of commercial poker rooms are dealing bridge (narrow) size now. Maybe it's always been like that, but the reason it would continue as such is probably because there the preferred plastic card manufacturing company (KEM) is moving their factory and is not making new cards in either bridge or poker size. in the meantime, nearly all the leftover poker size decks have already been snapped up from the stores that still had them. For casinos and cardrooms that need custom decks imprinted with their logo, they do not currently have the ability to re-order with KEM and for now are using either Gemaco or A-Plus as substitute brands. as far as why cardrooms don't use "poker" size cards for actual poker games, I don't have a definitive answer. I deal all my local games with wide size decks and people seem to be more comfortable with that over bridge size. |

Maybe it's because they are cheaper.

i checked kardwell and the cardsbykem guy on ebay and they both charge the same price for narrow and wide size decks on all brands. so it could very well be a dealer preference thing.

What's the difference between different card decks? Why would you want to pay $15 for a deck of cards. I just get used decks from the casino near me for free.

Copag's are lucky because they are made by pygmys in the brazilian rainforest, and blessed by a water shamen so that the owner will have good luck. They are also made of plastic so they last longer, shuffle easier, and are harder for drunk people to damage. Search for KEMs for more information

[/ QUOTE ] True, there is nothing wrong with paying no more than $2-3 for a good paper deck brand like Bee for personal use and light family games. But for a weekly poker game with drunk, rowdy friends and transient strangers at the table, you might opt for a plastic brand like KEM, Copag or A-Plus which will outlast many paper decks over its lifetime. plastic cards are: waterproof (beerproof) washable able to be bent from end to end and still return to its original flat state hard to mark or crease resistant to layering or wearing out on the edges resistant to sticking together |

Try shuffling Kems or Copags for awhile and then try and shuffle normal paper cards. Feels like you are trying to shuffle cardboard.
