Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
I don't understand why you try to get it all in preflop with AQs.
why not call the 5.5 raise? |
Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
Preflop: Why re-re-raise to 15 instead of just paying another 2.50 to see the flop? He's just got AQ and it's going to miss the flop like 1 in 3 times. You've got two callers that probably have premium hands.
Not much else you can say about this. |

Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
yes, we realize the villain's moron status but for example, reraising with Kj or 22-88 preflop constitutes a moronic move.
AQ is not a big favorite over any of these hands. and seeing as how if he is a moron, your rereraise probably has no folding equity, you are basically going in on a coinflip, oftentimes with you being slight dog. If you had TT or JJ instead of AQ, the rereraise to 15 doesn't look as bad. |
Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
I've learned the hard way before.... even morons get bullets and cowboys.

Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
The only reason I'm not behind your play is because MP looks like he isn't going anywhere. Heads up vs. a moron with AQs is okay in my book, but you don't want the other guy in there too.

Not "good" or orthadox, but not "bad."

Not "good" or orthadox, but not "bad." [/ QUOTE ] That depends on how much of an edge you demand, eh? Or rather, how much variability you can handle. I wouldn't do what this person did and get angry/feel cheated if I lost. Did this person ever consider they could outplay 'the moron' postflop? That is how I abuse them, not in preflop all ins. |
Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
in any game where you can confidently go all in preflop with 50x stacks and AQs, you should drink lots of coffee and keep playing.
once you face tougher competition, you will usually call the raise to $5.5 and see a flop. matt |
Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
As Raiser mentions, as soon as MP calls the SB's reraise I immediately slam on the breaks. I call to see a flop.
Remember, though, that even morons pick up hands. Unless he's regularly reraising with less-than-premium hands preflop and has shown a willingness to call a reraise all-in with them, I don't particularly like it even heads-up. Be patient. Eventually the moron will trap himself. |
Re: hand a buddy played - AQs
i told my friend, "if i were planning on reraising, i would just push rather than making it 15. since the bigger stack only has 25, once you make it 15, any half-decent player will recognize that he cannot see a flop and fold before the showdown. of course, if that's true then it doesn't matter at all whether you push or raise smaller. it just seems somehow amateurish to make that raise."
i'm guessing no one would advocate making it 15 instead of pushing (right....?) can anyone give any kind of logical reason? FWIW, moron had A8 and MP had 99, making hero a ~39% favorite to win. |
