Whats the biggest pot you\'ve lost?

Just lost a nearly $500 pot to a river flush on 100NL. I know it isn't much but it has left me a little rattled somewhat. I've won pots of this size before but never lost one as big.

I actually played my hand perfectly - got my money in with a set on the turn when I was waay ahead. I think that makes it even more frustrating.

Anyone want to share any similar tales of woe?

This is the biggest that comes to mind. Reraising with QQ isn't standard, but UTG was a fairly loose raiser and there were several mega-donators. I was trying to set up a pot-size push on the flop but failed to narrow the field as anticipated.

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (6 max, 6 handed) converter

saw flop|saw showdown

CO ($100)
Button ($247.06)
Hero ($141)
BB ($253.15)
UTG ($162.8)
MP ($144.49)

Preflop: Hero is SB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $1.
UTG raises to $10, 1 fold, CO calls $10, Button calls $10, Hero (poster) raises to $40, BB calls $38, UTG calls $30, CO calls $30, Button calls $30.

Flop: ($200) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (5 players)
Hero bets $101 (All-In), BB folds, UTG folds, CO folds, Button calls $101.

Turn: ($402) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: ($402) 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: $402
Main Pot: $402, between Button and Hero. > Pot won by Button ($402).

Results:
Button has 8h As (straight, nine high).
Hero has Qd Qc (one pair, queens).
Outcome: Button wins $402.

As I said..... a few mega-donators.

He had 7 outs getting 3:1 to call the all-in. His call was -EV but not to the point of being a "terrible" beat.

uh, 7 outs is ~28% chance to win. calling 100 to win a $400 pot is good, no?

$4,000.... I had 1700 and was got it all-in with AQo on a board of KJT with two spades.

3 of us got it all-in.... smaller stack (600) had Q9, bigger stack, (had me covered) had A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]

River brought the spade, and I hit the computer power off button in anger.

Oops. I suppose it is. If he doesn't know my cards though, then the times I turn over AA will be enough to make his call -EV in the long run. I remember at the time concluding it was a borderline but bad call, I guess I must have figured in the chance that he was drawing at four outs to make that conclusion.

Unlucky guys. Helped cheer me up a bit though. Will post the hand tomorrow if anyone is interested.

Just lost another $300 pot to a flush draw, bah! Don't you hate those days where your balance is up and down like a yo-yo, and you eventually finish $100 up and feel like you've wasted your time?

Annoying day. Time for bed.

I think the pot was around $1800. I was playing in Las Vegas at The Palms 2/5 no limit room and had 66. Flop came 8 6 2 two flush. He bets pot size which was probably $40, I raise and he goes all in. Only thing beats me is 88 and I have a really bad feeling that he is holding that hand but I can't fold because he could be playing an overpair the exact same way. I call, he flips over 88.

Re: Whats the biggest pot you\'ve lost?

I meant to say that this was the biggest I remember losing at NL100, but I seem to have deleted that part by mistake. The biggest ever was set-over-set in a 2/5 game. I didn't lose my whole stack though since the board was 789J... and when we filled up on the river the other guy got disconnected and came back just as he was about to be folded and hit "call" rather than risk timing out while in the midst of using the slider to pick an amount to reraise. I just wish the third guy in the hand had bet his straight harder on the turn so that I could have gotten away. =(
