Pokerstars Down Again?

This is starting to get old. May be time to look for a new site.

Well 36 of us are playing the KOTZ on stars now. No apparent problems.

I had the same problem with Empire.
I wonder if SBC is blocking the poker sites.

Austin dial-up. Can't get into Stars, also can't get into Starluck Casino. Royal Vegas is working fine.

In Houston. Use SBC. Just got booted from my SnG and can't get back on but rest of the internet works.

Re: Pokerstars Down Again?

Hello Everyone,

At this time PokerStars is not experiencing any problems. There are 24,000 players online at this time and the games are progressing smoothly.

We have noted an unusual increase in the number of connection complaints originating from users of SBC Global Internet (Southwestern Bell), which seems to have begun at 8:59 pm Eastern.

If you are having trouble, we urge you to contact SBC to determine whether or not they are aware of this outage, and when they expect it to be resolved.

Even though this does not appear at all to be a PokerStars problem, we apologize for the outage and hope you will be able to reconnect shortly.

Best Regards,

Jeff

Jeff,

Thanks for the reply. I'm guessing there's no recourse for recovering my SNG entry fee, right?

Thanks,
Thriller

Thank you.

I don't suppose there's any chance of refunds?

I was in a $27 sng when I got booted. :-(

I have SBC in oklahoma city. I can't get onto Party, Stars, or UB.

I also can't visit their websites.

are you calling or going through online support?

If someone can try a phone call, that might help.

Re: Pokerstars Down Again?

It looks like this is something they are doing intentionally. Can they really just block these sites, we'll all be [censored].

This online support person is a tool. He first referred me to Yahoo Games support.

He then referred me to PS and PP support. I'm now trying to explain I can't even access their websites.

now he says he can get to those sites just fine.

Anyone have the 24hr support number for SBC? I cant open any of the websites either.

This looks really, really bad. Everything is working fine with my connection but I can't log on to any of the poker sites or their websites. It looks pretty intentional.

Time to get a cable modem. Is anyone other than SBC users having trouble? If they are going to block the frigging sites they can at least send out a notice first so I don't have money in play when they shut it down.

LinusKS 11-12-2004 12:17 AM

Re: Pokerstars Down Again?

Yeah it looks bad. It's happening to me too, and I don't even have SBC.

I do live in Texas, though.

I'm asking specifically about a blockage right now. Each question/answer takes about 5 minutes.

Re: Pokerstars Down Again?

Who does SBC think they are if this is intentional? What's next...block porn sites? Then this computer really would be useless!

Just talked to two buddies in town. One is currently on PS using Road Runner but the other uses SBC and can't get on.

I called that number and think I got an outsourced person in India. She told me to call 400(?) 349 3300...that doesn't work! I'm a little upset right now.

It was entertaining explaining how I found out on one web site how other SBC clients couldn't connect to www.pokerstars.com

Re: Pokerstars Down Again?

Hello Everyone,

I'd be pretty shocked if this were intentional blockage. It is far more likely that it is just router peering problems -- SBC unable to hand off to some other ISP along the line.

We've been thus far unable to retrieve a "tracert" that we can analyze to localize the problem, however.

Would one of you kind souls who is locked out please use the PokerStars software to run a Network Status Report off the help menu, click "Report", and then send the file back to support@pokerstars.com ATTN: Jeff.

Or, if you're technically inclined, use Windows 'tracert', with this command:

tracert 66.212.235.207 > ddd

Then paste the contents of the file "ddd" into a post right here on this forum, and we'll see it. Thanks!

Best Regards,

It really just looks like a routing issue in a part of SBC's network. They happen from time to time and are usually resolved within hours.

I'm on the phone with support. It is hilarious. He won't answer my questions and is making me go through basic dsl connection troubleshooting.

I tell him that I am on the net fine, I just can't get to x site. He says.. "excuse me sir, we must go through troubleshooting procedures."

I've sent you my status report Jeff and thank you for keeping us informed from your end. I'm also hoping you are right and this is just temporary.
