anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

With the jackpot as high as it is, I think its worth a shot.

Are there enough people here interested, that we could take over all ten seats at a 2/4 table. Play jackpot only hands, and check them down to the river. Anyone game to give this a shot? Split the totaljackpot out evenly across all ten seats regardless of who wins

PM me or post here and if there is interest well see if we can get something going. Hell if there were enough people we could keep the table manned 24/7 until it gets hit

Worth a try. I'm hanging out there already.

If they knew you were doing it they would disqualify you.

Right. Hence the talking about it here, not there.

hmmm sounds like quite a good idea, though I can see party reviewing the hand histories and saying WTF and disqualifying it.

EDIT: man you people are quick at posting

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

How often is the JP hit? I'll guess once every two days.

How many JP tables run at a time? I'll guess 250.

If these numbers are correct, the hourly EV of doing this is $7.50 per person (448,000*.8*.1*(1/250)*(1/24)).

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

I'm think less than once every 2 days. Anyways I've never been so happy to have everyone hit runner runner on me. Could get old real fast but I just need one good runner runner and I'm on vacation for the next couple months

Homer 10-26-2004 10:38 PM

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

Just realized you'll probably get in about twice as many hands per hour as the other tables, so EV might be more like $15 per hour, assuming my other numbers are correct. Of course, you always have to consider the logistics of transferring tens of thousands of dollars to 8 random people.

PS - I'm in, btw. What table?

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

Yea, I am interested too, whats the table?

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

This is the only nitty part of their rules (straight from the site):
Players must play their hands independently and cannot tell opponents how to act or reveal their hand to other players. Violations will disqualify the hand for the Jackpot.

As long as nobody screams, "Stay in! Don't fold, I've got it!!", I think we'd be okay.

Homer 10-26-2004 10:42 PM

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

FYI, hand must be raked, so if you have a qualifying hand (4 8's or better, using both hole cards), you must bet the river. And of course if you see someone bet and you have a qualifying hand, you have to cap it and then we're all on easy street.

right, no one would talk about it at the table. Do you think we'd get DQed if like the 400 hands before the jackpot gets hit all checked to the river? Its kind of obvious :/

Nothing in the rules against it...

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

I am assuming they still take the $0.50 out per hand even if you just check it down....but this might not be correct.

I think there is a very good chance party wouldn't pay up if you did it this way.

I think a better way would be to just play kinda normally. Kind of like the .5/1 tables that the SS gang sometimes gets going.

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

Let's just give this a shot, make table?

Brain 10-26-2004 10:49 PM

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

I don't think they could prove anything that way.
And I'm certainly willing to take my chances of being "disqualified" for a piece of 450K. It's not like they're going to arrest us or anything.

We'd just have to remember to make sure the hand got raked.

They only take 50 cents out if it's a rake hand, no?

They should pay up, but there very well could be trouble.

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

that said....I'll give it a shot for awhile if we can get a table. But I don't know how we get our own table without ANY strangers joining us.

get it together and i'll try it. why not.

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

Even if not a private table, we can take the shortest table, then have remaining players from 2+2 on the list - keep the game going, and agree to split if it hits.

They don't have private jackpot tables. But I have one seat open...not anymore.

Just had a possible hand w/ 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] on the board. No luck though.

There's an empty 3/6 table, #963571. Nothing empty at 2/4 though right now.

Obviously it is likely there will be at least 1 or 2 outsiders not in on it who will play 'normally' (or their version of normally) so I'm not exacty sure how that should be handled.

Re: anyone wanna make a serious shot at the partypoker jackpot?

that one is a lil too crowded, lets go with table #

963582

Order the tables from #, and it is 3rd from the top! Let's do it.
