Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Another thread inspired this question, and two immediately came to mind. I'm sure all Mariner fans will remember:
1) Bobby Ayala 2) Pete O'Brien Good Lord, I hated them. |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Why do you hate Pete O'Brien? I don't really remember him making a huge impression one way or the other. I really hated Bobby Ayala obviously.
I hated Felix Fermin because he was a big piece of crap and we traded Omar for him. I also hated Heathcliff Slocumb because he was a big piece of crap and we traded Varitek and Lowe for him. What a disgusting trade. What a piece of crap. I really liked Jim Leyritz, contrary to most M's fans. He was a hard nosed mofo and I bet if he was on your team he was a joy to root for. Probably was a great teammate too. Just because he hit clutch jacks against us and mixed it up isn't reason to hate him. Schaefer |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Glenn Hubbard and Bob Horner, actually probably the entire late 80's Atlanta Braves roster. With TBS being the only source for baseball for much of my youth I was subjected to their utter crappiness on a dailey basis.

What, nobody in San Francisco has said Cody Ransom yet?

Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
5 or 6 years ago, I can't remember exactly when, Red Sox fans were forced to watch Craig Grabeck. (I may be spelling that wrong.) I swear, he was actually hitting .089 after 2 monhts, and Jimy Williams kept sticking him in there, even though it was obvious he was hopeless.
I remember they were rallying back and trying to post a big come from behind win, and they had the bases loaded in the 9th with two outs. Grabeck comes up and Jimy Williams leaves him in, and the entire city goes nuts, because they know that ANYBODY has a better chance of getting a hit than him. Of course, he grounded out weakly, and that was that. If people didn't hate Jimy Williams before that game, they sure did afterwards. |

Francisco Cabrera
Sid Bream Zane Smith Jesse Orosco Mookie Wilson Honorable mention to the Atlanta Braves announcers for making baseball dull and bland for me in the early to mid 80's. |

Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Rick Reichardt (sp.?). When he was chastized by the press for not trying hard, he responded, "It's only a game."
Mike Ivie was another one like that. |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Randy Jones, and anyother white pitchers sporting an afro (would have included Don Sutton, but I read SaltCracker's response to Clarkmeister).
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
hey it didn't stop Clark. I think this thread is about which players you hate, for whatever reason.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
If that is the case then I strike all the previously mentioned players and go with Zane Smith. Pock mocked faced motherfaqer!
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
I believe Rick Reichardt was the last and the highest paid of the "Bonus Babies". I'm not certain but his signing may have led directly to the amateur draft.
One other guy you might recall, Gary "if I'm not startin I'm not departin" Templeton. If I remember correctly, when the Padres got him for Ozzie Smith it was believed the Cardinals were "taken". |

Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Arthur Rhodes, Jim Mecir, Chad Bradford, Ricardo Rincon, Octavio Dotel.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
While not unknown when he was acquired, Kevin Mitchell soon faded into obscurity as a Mariner. Anyone who goes on the DL with muscles pulled from vomiting too hard deserves my loathing.

Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
The entire roster of the '86 Mets. No, I'm not a Red Sox fan. I'm an Astros fan who had to endure watching Gary Carter and Daryl Strawberry bitch and moan and ask the umpire to check the ball every time Mike Scott or Nolan Ryan made them look foolish.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
"The entire roster of the '86 Mets."
That's a great vote. |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Candy Maldonado. If I close my eyes, I can still see him going into that f***ing slide in RF during the 87 NLCS. You know even Dave Dravecky was thinking some decidedly un-Christian things after that one...
|
Ehh..
The '86 Mets ruled, and Mike "Scuffy" Scott was never to be heard fromm again after that season. Talk about Cy Young to sayonara.

Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
How can anyone hate Jesse Orosco and Mookie Wilson?
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Not that they are really unknowns, but I always had a distaste for Joaquin Andujar and Andy Van Slyke.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Wow, this really made me laugh hard.....I think I pulled a muscle!
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Moises Alou. Well known but what a bitch.
Lenny F. Harris. |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
How can anyone hate Jesse Orosco and Mookie Wilson?
Cause they were on the Mets of 86!! |
Re: Ehh..
If you want to post opinions about sports, go for it. Say something outlandish (like Sparky Anderson proclaiming unknown rookies (e.g., Chris Pittaro) to be the next coming of Mickey Mantle) and have some fun with 'em. If you want to make factual claims, however, you better be sure you get it right. You missed.
Mike Scott's next three seasons after '86: '87 -- 16 wins, 3.23 ERA, 233 Ks in 247 IP '88 -- 14 wins, 2.92 ERA, 190 Ks in 219 IP '89 -- 20 wins, 3.10 ERA, 172 Ks in 229 IP Bonus stat: '85 -- 18 wins, 3.29 ERA The guy was good. Accept it. |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Jeff Blauser. The ugliest man to ever play baseball.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Mike Gallego. Yet another late 80's shortstop unable to hit his weight.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Otis Nixon might be uglier than Jeff Blauser.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
I hate Jeffrey Maier, the f$%#er that caught the supposed "home run" hit by Derek Jeter. Tony Tarasco was so going to catch that ball.
Yes I'm an Orioles fan. And the f---in' Yankees gave the kid free tickets to the next day's game so he missed school. WTF? |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
How about favorite least-known as a baseball player?
and forget the TrailBlazers uniform. He is a Celtic. http://www.baseball-resources.com/ma...AingeDanny.gif |
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Leon Durham. I don't know why, but he seemed like a turd-bag.
|
Re: Least Favorite (Unknown) Baseball Players
Jeff Nelson -- I don't know which is cheesier -- his pitching motion or his mustache.
