Best application of a music track in a movie
Best application of a track in a movie
I say "I can't Stop Loving You," by Ray Charles in "Metropolis" (2001). What do you guys think? I'll just get the "In your eyes" from "Say Anything" out of the way too, but it's torched by the above. |
Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
Eye of The Tiger - Rocky III
|
Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
As I said in TBG's Doors thread, "The End" in Apocalypse Now

Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
Phhh. "Black Betty" in Blow. (Remember, he's struttin thru the airport in his white suit, about to deliver some cocaine.)
|
Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
Didn't this thread get done a couple weeks ago?
I'm sure "Where is my Mind?" in Fight Club was mentioned there. |
Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
Cameron Crowe uses music tracks really well in his movies. I don't know if any one of them would qualify as the best ever, but he is the best at using them right now IMO.

[/ QUOTE ] I also liked "Blinded by the Light", or whatever it's called by whoever sings that thing... the James Gang or whoever. Everytime I hear this song now I think of Blow. I think of the scene where Johnny Depp is standing in his driveway puffing away while admiring his fleet of cars while his dad nods his head in approval/disapproval. |
Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
This is gonna sound lame, but I always thought the use of 'unchained melody' in Ghost was a pretty damn fine use of a track.

Sorry, couldn't resist. Vague reference to a mid-90's Comedy Central Show (The Vacant Lot) Skit about a bunch of guys arguing over "Blinded by the Light". |

Re: Best application of a music track in a movie
I was the first one to point out the correct answer in the last thread, that being "Where is My Mind?" in Fight Club. Someone has beaten me this time.
I really like Wes Anderson's use of music. "Hey Jude" in the opening scene of Royal Tenenbaums, as well as the Elliot Smith song during the suicide scene. "Staralfur" - Sigur Ros near the end of "The Life Aquatic." |

Are we talking a previously released/recorded song, or do original soundtracks count? If soundtracks count, some great ones-
