Winrate Threads

A few regulars have expressed some frustration over the winrate threads....what does everyone else think?

we need a sticky that says:

10-20NL: >2 good

This sums up all win-rate questions. I don't see what else there is to gather from discussing it 50000 million times.

Re: Winrate Threads

I think they are helpful, but they can all go into brags beats and variance. Perfect form for them. Here they just clutter.

Re: Winrate Threads

They wouldnt be so painful if people just answered them straightforwardly. I don't see what the big deal is about someone saying "I made Xbbs at 5-10 over 100K hands." If 10-15 regulars simply responded along those line, we could reach a reasonable estimate of what a good winrate is and these threads would die quickly.

And it would be nice if someone defined LONGTERM in the sticky too. Some people think this is 50k, and have no concept of variance/std dev and confidence intervals. Putting the formula in the sticky would go a long way IMO.

What's wrong with winrate threads? I have always been extremely curious to learn how much others make.

[/ QUOTE ]I agree 100%. If you are annoyed by winrate threads, guess what, don't read them. A thread titled "Avg. Winrate of a full time 5-10 player?" isn't too hard to figure out it's going to be winrate discussion. This is similar if fsuplayer makes a thread, I know it'll be garbage so I can easily skip over it without reading it

Agreed. There is usually something gained from them other than just a simple >3.5bb/100 rule.

I think if people posted winrate threads and there were only a couple of regulars posting comments such as "buzz off" or "wrong forum", or throwing up the AZK sign, then deleting would be warranted.

But of you look at many of the winrate threads, they are fairly long, so obviously something is being discussed.

I think as long as people put winrate in the subject, those who want to avoid them can.

what i find interesting is how much easier it is to sustain higher winrates at 3/6 and 2/4 than these bigger games

Why is this interesting, this is expected. PPL suck at my level, calling off with TPTK

Excuse my ignorance but could you clarify that? I saw somewhere else that there is a difference but what exactly is the difference?

a PTBB = 2 x BB.

so in the 10-20NL games. a PTBB is = $40.

I like that a thread about whether or not we should have win rate threads has actually turned into a win rate thread.
