Absolute small stakes that much harder than party?

I've been playing Party .5/1 for a couple months and am up $900 ($200 is from bonuses and maybe $100 from SnG's). It's rare to have a losing session. Enough about that -- I know, you dont care, it's just necessary for my question.

I signed up for absolute just to get the PSO NJ chips for 400 raked hands. I deposited $100 and sat at a few .5/1 tables and in about 30 minutes I was down $40. I have noticed the games are MUCH tighter, most flops have 3 people where on Party there is 4-6. Granted, I've missed a ton of flops and had some bad beats (6 Quads in 2 hours now, not all involving me of course).

I guess my question is: Is absolute just tougher in general? I was thinking maybe because Partys lowest stake is .5/1, all the new players go there, where on Absolute they have lower choices. I was just surprised at how much of an increase in difficulty it was.

After the first hour, I did tighten up a ton more than I'm used to and have been break-even the past hour but I'm still a little disapointed.

Thanks, but don't bother. I'm only interested in useful or constructive replies.

Absolute is filled with low limit bonus whores with rake back. It is very very tight.

Stand up and it'll be one. I kid. I guess that must be full ring, they would be losing a bunch at 6 max.

My PT stats show the following SF%:
Party 1/2 Full 36.6%
Party 2/4 Full 34.7%

ABS 1/2 Full 31.4% (18k hands)
ABS 2/4 Full 34.0% (16k hands)

Party 1/2 6max 50.2%
Party 3/6 6max 45.0%

ABS 1/2 6max 42.8%
ABS 2/4 6max 42.7%
ABS 3/6 6max 40.0%

Hope that helps.

If they are to your left that would be a fantastic game.

I would venture to guess that a 2BB/100 player at Party, Paradise, etc would be about .5b/100 at Absolute.

Figure in rakeback and unlimited bonuses and that same player would probably end up ahead of party.

Difficult to make any money at small stakes at Absolute. Hard at .50/1 to get a $5 pot so that you get credit for a raked hand toward clearing bonus.

Absolute .5/1 FULL RING Limit Hold 'Em is tighter than Party, for certain. It is not just the overall Absolute player climate, but is also a function of .5/1 limit HE being the game of choice for bonus clearing by "bonus whores."

Swings can be hard everywhere. I just had a 1-hr session at Party where I spewed chips, losing with KK twice, losing FH vs. FH, folding to a couple donkbets before I had reads, etc.

There is a style of player that can do quite well against a typical Absolute rock (I'll count myself in the group of rocks). It is a style that doesn't work everywhere, and that's why really strong players can adjust their game really well (I won't count myself in that group.)

Even without being "really strong," you need to get reads on your opponents and know who is betting with top pair or better and who is a TAG going aggro with overcards or 2nd pair plus draw trying to get you to fold. This doesn't come right away.

It is much more rare to find a 75% saw-flop guy or the player who donk-bets into several players with nothing on Absolute at .5/1 FULL RING Limit HE.

At .5/1, the 6 max game seems totally different from my limited experience. I'll bet the avg number of players to see the flop in the avg 6 max game at Absolute is quite close to the avg number saw flop in a full ring game.
