*TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
I'll be providing a sliding scale of 1-10 based on the following criteria:
* Overall style * Personality * Price-point / Brand (not a significant factor, but it will help adjust the sliding scale) * Accessories (Watches, shoes, belts, etc) So let me have it OOT. Post photos of what you will be wearing today, or at least links to an outfit you are considering buying. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

The insignia has to go, thats a bit too Michael Jackson-style gay for me. I give it a 4 TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Today
this sweater http://www.bananarepublic.com/Asset_...96-01qlv01.jpg on top of white dress shirt (some stripes) that looks like this: http://www.bananarepublic.com/Asset_...6-00p01v01.jpg dark jeans also from banana republic that I got last sale. edit: oh god, just realized i'm wearing all Banana Republic. What's happened to me!!?!? Damn their last sale and their easy-fitting clothes (on me)!!! |
Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
Nice color scheme, the problem with Banana Republic clothing is that the fits aren't ideal for the average man, the sweaters often tend to bunch up in the wrong places. Great clothing for a 1-2x special occasion, not so great for repeated use. Essentially its disposable... luckily the price point is made to match.
6 on the *TT* scale. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |
Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
yeah, is it just me or are all BR's clothes made for tall skinny dudes?

Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
I am wearing some American Eagle light blueish jeans that got a huge sewed rip in the seem by my right ankle from not using a rubber band while biking (got caught in the gears) with a plain black belt and silver buckle. I am wearing plain white socks and an out of print (sorry, can't find a link) HUSH records T-shirt that has a red and white screenprint ambulance on it with a boom box instead of a gurney in the back.
If you can't rate this due to lack of pics, just respond saying that and I'll find some T-shirt that does have a pic online |
Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
ok I picked out something from Bananarepublic.com just to give you a sense of the types of things I would pick out now.
Jeans sweater another sweater dress pants I don't plan on doing all my shopping at Bananarepublic of course but this gives you an idea so far. Also I couldn't really find any botton down shirts I liked so ill find some and post later |

TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] [/ QUOTE ] Yeah some friends have complained about this also regarding banana republic, but their clothes fit me quite well. In fact the main reason I like to shop there is because I know the sizes fit me, and I don't have to try them on (I hate trying on clothes). I agree the price point is attractive especially cuz I buy things during sales/clearance rack. The bad thing is that you aren't very 'original', but I don't really care about that so much. |

yeah, is it just me or are all BR's clothes made for tall skinny dudes? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I'm a tall skinny dude, and BR stuff looks like pure hell on me. I barely walk into that store anymore between the fits and the prices. I'm more of a J. Crew/Gap type. Esp. since J. Crew started doing tall sizes. |

I'm a little self-conscious about my extended torso and how my hands aren't connected to my body and, instead, hang from my pockets, so go easy on me.

Also I couldn't really find any button down shirts I liked so ill find some and post later [/ QUOTE ] Jeans: Close, but you can do better. Look at the crotch, the guy has no package what so ever. If you got it, flaunt it! Grey sweater: I have a sweater just like this, I only wear it when I'm feeling like [censored]. The band on the bottom ruins the way the sweater hangs, it creates that uncomfortable bunching feeling. A good example of a bad BR sweater. Natural cashmere sweater: I would assume from the price point that this is not "real" quality cashmere, but the sweater looks nice none and comfortable the less. Notice the difference in the fit between the gray sweater and this one, the obvious winner of the two. Pants: As long as pants are not pleated, and have a flat front pocket, you can't go wrong with basic black pants. Items I liked: 6.5 on the *TT* scale Items I didn't like: 4 on the *TT* scale PS: for your price point (and the price point of most OOT'ers who are looking for a quality button down shirt that will last) I reccomend Thomas Pink. Diablo might disagree with me here, but for most of you its the best available. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

But you disappoint me with the jeans... lets move you to Meltin' Pot. Its affordable, new to the states, and has a great fit. Check out this link, they let you see from multiple angles. The outfit is not that imaginative, so I had to take one point away. 6 on the *TT* scale |

Shirt: I like, but I'm not a fan of Volcom (purely for business reasons only). Slides: You can do better than that! Your dressed really well, then you kill it with sub par footwear. You loose 2 points for the footwear, which earns you a 6.5 on the *TT* sliding scale. PS: Roll up the sleves, or at least layer the shirt. It can be a bit gay solo, but would look great with a blazer. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
TT,
The girlfriend agrees with you on the jeans, and this weekend she dropped $250 on a pair of Diesel jeans for me. I'm learning - slowly, as I'm apt to do - that jeans are one more of those things in life that are worth spending money on. So, instead of 3 pairs, its one real good pair. Creativity isnt a strong suit, yet. I'm still shocked that I can dress myself decently with any regularity. Appreciatively, yasher |
Re: *TT* rates OOT\'s fashion sense
TT -
I really don't like those jeans you linked to. They don't even look good on the model. They make the ass look bulbous and odd. But then again, I have no fashion sense whatsoever. I have one or two decent outfits that I have managed to piece together and many horrible ones. NT |

Just like poker, you must practice to improve yourself. I'm a so-so looking guy, but I dress really well which takes me up quite a few notches. At first I was afraid to expand my horisions... then I went a bit nutz - I even wore a puffy white pirate shirt and a pair of brown leather jeans for a while ala Jim Morrison (don't try this at home kids). Eventually you will find your own unique style that cannot be copied, and makes you stand out in a crowd in a stylish way. TT [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] |

Great sneaker choice, next time you want to go shopping for skips I recommend taking it up a notch none the less - Camper or John Varvatos Converse would look great on you. Although I love Pumas, you can find something singular that only you will rock... something that just screams DOUGIE [censored]'N MEYER! You have good taste in jeans, nothing to critique there.
