Do you think you're something special, coming in here to post the "Official" thread?

(Just kidding. Thanks for all your posts throughout the tournament, it's been exciting to watch. Go Fossilman!)

Does anyone have any info on Michael Kessler? I noticed he is from Spotsylvania, VA which is about 15 minutes from my house.

I guess I have a new person to root for.

Raymer loses one

Date / Time: 2005-07-14 15:48:00
Title: Ayhan Alsancak Doubles Up Through Greg Raymer
Log:
Hand 3 - Per Hildebrand has the button in seat 4, Connor raises, Raymer calls, and Alsancak moves all in from the small blind. The action is back on Connor, and he takes some time to make his decision, but he folds. Raymer makes the call, showing Ah-8c, while Alsancak has Kc-7c. They shake hands before the flop, as if to say, "May the best cards win." The flop comes Qh-7d-4h, and Alsancak takes the lead with a pair of sevens. Raymer needs an eight, an ace, or something runner-runner to eliminate Alsancak. The turn card is the 9s, and Raymer is down to six outs. The river card is the Ks, and Alsancak makes two pair to double up in chips.

Looks like CP will update every hand at the featured table. This makes me happy.

Raymer loses about $250K on 3rd hand.

To add on...I saw a video on Card Player that said they were going to have a live audio feed that we could listen to over the internet. I thought it was supposed to start today. I just checked the Cardplayer.com website and could not find anything.

Does anyone know how to pick this up?

sekrah 07-14-2005 06:52 PM

Re: Raymer loses one

Not too much damage.. Alsancak only had like $250k to start the day,

WTF?
Shawn Sheikhan Flips Out, Matusow Goes All-In
Obiously regretting his fold, Shawn Sheikhan, begins talking about his hand to members of the crowd. Mike Matusow takes issue with that, and accidentally lets the F-word slip. After the argument Kessler reraises, Matusow goes all-in, and wins the pot. Tournament Director Jack Effel rules that both players will be given a ten minute penalty - a devasting blow for Sheikhan, who is very short stocked

Conor Tate disagrees with the penalty against Sheikhan, and is stalling on his decisions to help keep Sheikhan alive. The table is split on this tactic, and Tournament Directors are forced to call time on him each hand.

I think he's confused as to why a penalty was issued. I can only assume based on the little info given that Sheikhan was openly talking about his cards while the hand was going on.

Finally Playing Back at Ivey

Hand 5 - Phil Ivey has the button in seat 6, he comes in for a standard raise, Black reraises, and Ivey pulls some chips from his stack to shuffle them in one hand while he holds his cards in the other. Ivey counts out the chips and reraises right back at Black (I believe the amount is $500,000). Andrew Black, who is wearing his sunglasses upside-down (Marcel Luske-style), is taking his time here. Black moves all in, and Ivey quickly folds. Black shows Ad-2d as he collects the pot.

---

We don't know if he had the best hand, but the fact that he had the courage to put that 4th raise in there putting him allin vs. Ivey is awesome. Now if people stopped getting kicked out for 10 minutes at a time and people at the table protesting it would be better.

Perspective from Pokerwire.

Shawn Sheikhan made a comment during a hand in progress and Mike Matusow told him to "STFU". When Jack Eiffel, the tournament director, came over to resolve the problem, Shawn Sheikham repeated Matusow's comment verbatim. Because the camera's were rolling when he repeated the comment, both players were given a ten minute penalty.

Jack works with me at Horseshoe Tunica. I'll ask him about it when I see him next week. I'm fairly certian he wont be answering his cell right now.

Ivey's getting slapped around alright.. There's some people playing back at him!

Hand 8 - Joe Connor has the button in seat 9, Ivey raises, and Hachem calls. The flop comes Js-Jd-6c, Ivey checks, Hachem bets $150,000, and Ivey reraises to about $650,000. Hachem thinks briefly before saying, "All in," and Ivey quickly folds.

Uh oh.. There's some balls at the table Phil.
