absolute bonus change?

rake is now 50 cents to earn a point? heard it on bw. Anyone can confirm this?

kmprsdrm 11-28-2005 10:09 PM

Re: absolute bonus change?

not as of today.

I just checked BW and do not see any thread on this subject.

Re: absolute bonus change?

it's under bonus disc.
their cashier page has the change
so it appears to be only a matter
of time. They're getting killed at 1/2
esp. full table. Collecting .25 and
paying out .90 + rb. At 2/4 and up it
should still clear at a decent rate.

Uglyowl 11-29-2005 01:13 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

Damn it, I don't get rb either. This is crappy.

Re: absolute bonus change?

they keeping rake at 5%??? This means $10 pots? Oh that sucks.

rhizome 11-29-2005 08:24 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

Ok, now I play only 2/4 and higher.

FWIW, My PT shows

At 1/2 6 max 59.6% are raked at .25 or more and 38.5% are raked at at .50 or more.

At 2/4 6 max, 79.7% are raked at .25 or more and 61.8% are raked at .50 or more.

Re: absolute bonus change?

Well this sucks. I for one won't be playing the 2/4, the minimum pot size for rake in that game is $5 which takes out a lot of money. Maybe if they changed the minimum pot size for rake to $10 I would consider it, but for now on I'll only be playing $3/6 and up.

Re: absolute bonus change?

This is bad news for players obviously, but there's no way Absolute wasn't losing money to players at the .5/1 and 1/2 levels, so this move was a long time in coming for them.

kmprsdrm 11-29-2005 10:57 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

it appears to have started. Just played 150 hands
PT says 90 were raked, yet i recieved about 50pts.

11-29-2005 11:13 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

Last night it was 1 point per hand raked at 0.25, I know this for sure as I track it very closely (42% of hands qualified at 0.50/1.00).

Can anyone confirm that this has in fact happened and is in effect right now?

If so, goodbye Absolute. It's been fun.

Re: absolute bonus change?

Yea I'd like this confirmation too....I'm doing the Paradise reload so to lazy to play for a bit to find out. I did open AP up and they appear to have the same number of tables open at .5/1 and I would imagine if this change is true it would destroy the number of games going on at that level.

11-29-2005 07:02 PM

Re: absolute bonus change?

There is absolute no no question this has taken effect. I am clearing at maybe $12/hr playing 6 tables of $.5/$1. It sucks.

The odd thing is that this has not seemed to affect the number of players there. Seems to be as active as usual from just opening up the site. At .5/1 you will be lucky to get one out of 10 hands to get to 10 bucks. Lately it was about 1 in 3 hands to get a $5 pot.

Re: absolute bonus change?

most of the BW crew have already confirmed that you now need 50c rake to count towards bonus.

$1/2 players will probably want to stick to evenings and weekends when games are more plentiful and slightly looser. if you can tackle weak-tight games at $2/4, now is the time.

50c/$1 are probably ass out unfortunately. but don't think Absolute will lose any sleep over a couple of ungrateful whore defections. consider that Party Poker and Pokerroom as doing as well as ever despite their greed oriented tactics. and Poker Stars never really wanted you guys in the first place.

learn to play poker. adapt or die.

celiboy 11-29-2005 07:38 PM

Re: absolute bonus change?

For those playing 1/2, how many hands would it take to clear $10 in bonus? I would assume somewhere in the 250 hand range........

kmprsdrm 11-29-2005 07:45 PM

Re: absolute bonus change?

I'm clearing at about %35 rate at 1/2.
It was fun/profitable while it lasted

Re: absolute bonus change?

Looks bleak for December my fellow low limit whores

Party now on crappy points system
Bet365 said no bonus for December
Absolute now clears like crap up to 2/4
Paradise unlikely to have a reload after Thanksgiving

It's hard to build a bankroll to start taking on 2/4 based only on poker. In a good month I might get 10000 hands in and at 2 bb/100 that is only 200 bucks a month. I guess it's time to take a shot at 2/4

You'd made $800 if you averaged 2bb/100 for 10,000 hands of 2/4. I take it you are playing .5/1 right now?

There are still plenty of bonuses out there.

Well I am beating the game at around that at OTHER SITES, but at Absolute I am break even. There was a thread about this on here that many found it tough to beat the games at ABS for any kind of a decent rate. Winning only 2bb/100 at .5/1 at Party, Paradise will not mean you will even break even at 2/4 Absolute.

I've made close to 3000 in 6 months from low limit whoring, so I guess for me the party is over and I need to take a shot at 2/4 with this roll.

11-29-2005 09:01 PM

Re: absolute bonus change?

I am in the exact same boat as you, but I think that I am going to take a break from whoring for a while and actually work on my game for a bit. I am also going to take a 10k hand shot at NL and then play a bunch of Sit and Gos.

Re: absolute bonus change?

I just did a test and I can confirm that between last night and now things DID change....

It is now 0.50 and NOT 0.25, I did some research and on my 50k hands at absolute at 0.50/1.00 and 1.00/2.00 and the following is what I found....

(all data based on 6-Max Limit Holdem, with a rakeback deal of 27.5%)

At 0.50/1.00
0.25 = 45% of hands raked
0.50 = 11% of hands raked (wow, didn't think that it would be that low)

At 1/2
0.25 = 72% of hands raked
0.50 = 51% of hands raked (works out to 2.55BB/100

Rakeback at 0.50/1.00 is 1.18BB/100

Rakeback at 1.00/2.00 is 1.06BB/100

Looks like the bonus + rakeback is going to be:

@0.50/1.00 = 2.28BB/100

@1.00/2.00 = 3.61BB/100

At these rates I don't think that you want to play 0.50/1.00 at Absolute anymore. The 1.00/2.00 is going to be pretty good, but by no means a great deal. I think that you can get better deals if you are playing 1.00/2.00.

Enjoy my findings :-)

Work on your multi-tabling skills?

If you can play 6 tables, this is only ~ 26 hours a month.

I play 8 and can do close to 500 hands in an hour. Others here play even more than that!

Anyone know what % of hands are raked at .50 and up at 2/4 full ring?

They've confirmed it on their own forum.

Bummer. I can see why they did it, as I've paid less than zero rake there so far, but it still will probably cause me to play elsewhere for the moment.

Re: absolute bonus change?

Experienced the new bonus change today. Absolute won't be getting much play from me now.

celiboy 11-30-2005 12:39 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

So for a former .5/1 whore where can we turn to next?

For now I'll 4 table 1/2 and see how the bonus clears at ABS, but I'm sure there is a better bonus structure at that limit somewhere. I guess the Crypto's are where I'll head. I dunno...ABS was an easy $200 - $500 a month for me in bonus.

philnewall 11-30-2005 09:34 AM

Re: absolute bonus change?

The change might actually be +EV for those whores who stay. With a mass exodus of multitabling whores from 1/2 the games are going to get undoubtably fishier.
