Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
You should have led 3-bet the flop all in.
If you're going to check the flop, you need to check/raise all in. (Assuming 100- stacks) As played, fold the turn. |

[/ QUOTE ] Would you ever fold the flop Jim? [/ QUOTE ] I just noticed that you checked the flop. That's SOOOO BAD. Jim, what would you do if the Hero had position and the Villain fire $17 into the pot? Call and then C/R turn on a non scare card? |

Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
Well first thing I would do is reraise the raiser to $40 total when he raised to $10, but since you didn't and were in this situation, I think you'd find yourself in a tough spot
I'd count my outs, 9 more diamonds to a nut flush, plus I'd feel confident that any King or Ace would give me top pair and the pot, so I'd give myself an additional 3 outs for the remaining Kings and 3 outs for the remaining Aces, for a total of 15 outs, the rule of 2 and 4 and you have a 60% chance after the flop and 30% chance still after the turn if it doesn't not improve your hand. I'd also factor in another .5% in case the turn and river are an 8 and a 5 not of diamonds to give you a split pot. I would with that information, raise probably all in and hope he folds, but not hate myself if he calls |
Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
I would bet/push the flop. If he smooth called me and the turn blanked, against some opponents I would c/r all in. Some I would lead again, and some I would check and fold to a PSB.
Flop is standard bet/3bet. Turn (smoothcalled and bricked) is read dependent. |

You don't mean open push do you, wdead?

Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
You definitely should bet/3-bet this flop. If you want to check it you have to c/r like Jim said. You are a favorite against TT-QQ, 12 outs still against KK and 9 against AA.
Check calling is bad. . . you need to be applying some pressure in the hand and producing some fold equity. |
Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
Why is it bad to check the flop? I know that Villian would be firing a large bet, and more than likely re-raising me [all in] if I had came out with a bet. I am not going to win the hand with Ace high, and I'd rather fold than put all my chips in on a draw.
There is only about a 5% chance He has anything but a pair... |
Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
ECK! I dont' like that fold or the call on the flop there, lead into PFR there/3-bet all in. CR this turn all in, you should have some folding equity against a high PP here and even if he calls you probably have 15 outs to a win.

Re: How would you play this? AKs NL 400
Kowalski, I think you should look at my first post.
I understand you are out of position on this hand, but for goodness sake you pick up Ace King suited, I don't know about you but when I have A-K I'm hoping someone raises the pot so I can reraise them about 3 times the size of their raise and than hopefully get called and see a flop. When the flop came out with low cards, like it did, bottom line man you just missed played this hand, if you aren't willing to reraise with A-Ks what hand are you willing to raise with? Had you raised you'd know more information about the strength of the button's hand, but as it is he could have easily raised from the button with 10,9s hit top pair and been willing to raise you off the pot. Also when he made that $78 bet he stole your thunder, now you can't call it because you don't have the correct pot odds. He obviously didn't want to see another diamond come out on the river. Had you made that bet first, he would have been hard pressed to call it with only top pair a 9 (I'm assuming that's all he had) especially if you had been "representing" a monster pair from the begining. No worries, live and learn, don't make that mistake next time. |
