My Personal OIC new thread

Former OIC thread

Yesterday I finished my $120 bonus, which is non OIC money, I coincidently lost $130 after a downswing of 400 in half an hour or so, but more importantly because I cut off a GM after capping the flop with it. and I would have won a $200 pot on runner runner str8.
I have no excuses, but have been taking lots of flack from my better half about losing heavily on the GM, well got a new GM a few minutes later, and won it playing it correctly.

I am currently at + $1947 and rolling on.
My St D is $174 an hour, I believe that is quite high, anyone want to share their St D at $5-$10?

your SD is normal if you're playing on Party (I read your first post but I forgot where you play)

Re: My Personal OIC new thread

I played this at Stars, I rarely play anything but SnG's at Party due to their higher rake.

I have played quite a bit short handed too, I have played about 500 hands H/U and am up a little more than $1 per hand.

Re: My Personal OIC new thread

I had a player at Stars today tell me that I am a 'GENIUS' a little later he told me that my name 'TuristOnTilt' says it all, then he started to go over and over about how I raised with 6,8, (I got 6,8o next hand too and capped it preflop from SB, and lost a bit, so did the complainer).

Then he is going broke, but is telling me how much I have lost, he says 500 500 500, and I tell him that didn't hurt me at all, at which point he joyfully tell all that he has just lost $200, which is basically his last words before leaving broke, he must have been laughing all the way to the bank, that was Hilarious.

Now I was never down $500, I was adding to my stack over and over, so the poor guy couldn't count it straight.

Ended the day at a total of +2184 winning 237 for the day.

Nice going. You must be on a different new level playing so much trash, so hard, and winning. I guess I need to learn a few more things...

Re: My Personal OIC new thread

Thanks Bau

I like to call my playing style 'going 2 steps back to go 4 forward' whilst the regular tight winniing player is just going forward 1 step at the time.

I find my style much more enjoyable, and fun to play than just grinding grinding grinding.

It is however requireing a higher bankroll due to the higher variance.

It is basically thinking a little outside the box.

What I am doing is basically playing lots of 0EV hands and also some slightly negative EV hands, but I do get that and more back when I have good hands due to the difficulty others have to put me on a hand.

In the 'old' days I used to be known as the capper with 23o on planet, lot's of regulars in those games, and my image didn't hurt me at all

To play my style to the fullest, you need to be aware of the style of the players you play, then you can make the Max EV, if you do not, the road to ruin is relatively short, this is why I do quite better max 2 tabling than multi tabling.

+218 currently at +2402

Went down 200 from the start, worked my way up to +400 but down 200 last half hour.

I still get told that I must be VERY lucky

+466 today 2868 overall, STD at $172.
12k hands, will have to calculate soon when it is time for me to move up. (Maybe as I haven't taken a close look at it yet.

I played a bit of H/U again, and apart from someone taking 92 of the $100 dollars I came with in 4 hands, it went well lol.

Some 2+2 lurker was by one of my tables when I was waiting for a game asking if noone dared to play me HU. Don't know who it was, but the alias started with V lol.

2868 overall

how much elapsed time?

if you had not played any GM's, this figure would be much higher. that's a nice profit for the short time you have been at this.

awful method.

Ok,

Hard to beleive that I am going to be the first one saying this.

Your method of going steps back and then forward is bad.

Any serious player that makes good money will agree with me on this. Any professional would just laugh. This is especially true when you are playing 5-10 (where the rake is high so you need to really maximize, and also where the players are usually not smart enough to notice how you play anyway).

I forget how much you started with, but if you played good poker and stopped fooling around you should be making a good 60 bucks an hour or so (I am assuming ur playing 2 tables when I make the estimate.)

Fish play bad hands, they play the good ones too. You are the fish every time you raise 68 or GM at that level.

I know that ur a serious guy, but you're completely delusional about this whole method.

Play good poker.

Don't be a fish.

Out of curiosity, do you think your method would work in a tough game?

I agree you're fooling yourself if you think the fish actually watch what you play and adjust accordingly to the point that play negative EV hands increases your EV+ enough to compensate.

I've played with you ~300 hands and in that time you limped UTG with K6s and T8s these are not profitable hands from UTG and especially in pots which are often raised PF....or limping in after limpers with Q7o on the button.

The fish might or might not pay attention, but I am gaining something from the -EV hands, as I give bad beats to some of the 'tighter' players and I have tilted many a player, making table better and my own winrate higher.

I looked in my PT and didn't find any hand where I limped in with Q7o from the button, I have however lost about 10% of the hands I have played duw to problems with my email account.

I have also had a couple days where I admittingly have played bad poker, slightly on tilt, and also to tired to be anything but a buttonclicker, but I think it is healthy to play some hands that aren't predicatable at all, for advertising and to make others not know where your next punch will come from.

I will probably never get the 'Tight play by the book Army'out there to get this point, but that is not my intention either.

Re: awful method.

Yes I know I am the fish when I bet the GM blindly the whole way, it is not a coincidence that it is the hand I have lost the most on.

However I like my playing style, it makes the wait list on my table longer than anywhere else.
If I was playing 'correct' poker the whole way, my tables would be breaking up instead.

Down $124 today, at +2744.
I was past 3k, but met a couple very aggressive sh h players and lost down to 2500 before I got back up a little at the end.

They left before I could bully them back, but sometimes you meet a really aggressive player, and it is like you are taming them, making them not know what to do all of a sudden.

Down $657 today, didn't play good, and wasn't hitting it either. Now at +2087 overall.

Won back that and more in 15-30 later so that is my consolation.

Had a couple interesting hands there, will post them later if I find them back.

why not give the 20-40 at paradise a shot with that 2k? your play would do well there i think.

HavanaBanana 10-03-2004 09:58 PM

Re: My Personal OIC new thread

Well, I went and looked, and the stats on those games looked beatable, however 2k is severly shortstacked in that game, of course it is in 15-30 too, but atleast I get to have my favorite blindstructure. (40%-60%)

I have been noticing tougher aggro play against me lately, and less folders, must be me posting here doing it, guess I'll ask Tom McEvoy to let me borrow his account

see ya in there, there is a good poll going on mason's hygeine.

Great progress man. I know you live in Europe. What EST times do you play / find the best games?. I may take an extended trip there and I wish to keep my poker income coming in...

HavanaBanana 10-05-2004 02:35 PM

Re: My Personal OIC new thread

thanks Bau.
I find the best games are coinciding with the times where most players are on.
I think this is because you have the core of Pro players playing so many hours a day that during the off peak hours the sites are saturated with the better players.
You can also make your own game good,I do that somtimes, but then you also need to stay around to reap the benefits

There are however many sites to chose between so if you can chose between limits and sites you can always find a good game.

I have started to play different limits than 5-10 now, some 10-20 and my favorite 15-30 (due to blind structure), so I am discontinuing my OIC won about $2200 doing it, but the knowledge that the higher limits are quite in my reach is probably worth more
I could not make the PT automatic due to firewall problems, so too much hazzle to keep track of my OIC while jumping between tables.
