Yankee Killers

Biggest Yankee killer ever had to be George Brett. Currently David Ortiz.

I'm sure his stats were good. But, he was no Yankee killer.

1976 ALCS: New York 3, Kansas City 2
1977 ALCS: New York 3, Kansas City 2
1978 ALCS: New York 3, Kansas City 1
1980 ALCS: Kansas City 3, New York 0

Truly ridiculous. The Yankee organization was a wreck when Steinbrenner bought it in 1973. From 1965 through 1973, the Yankees finished an average of 20 games out of first place.

Since 1974, they've won 13 division titles in 31 years and 6 World Series.

a better question would be how many players and teams the Yankees have killed throughout their history.

people love to hate, its like Europeans, they love to celebrate small political victories against the U.S., but really the U.S. pwns, much like the Yankees.

I second the vote for Edgar Martinez. His 7 RBI's in game 3 of the '95 AL Division Series and game winning double in game 5 are just two of the reasons! One of the best series of all time!

Re: Yankee Killers

Goose Gossage would disagree. Brett owned him, hitting many big homers off him. BTW, Yankees won ALCS in 4 games in 1978, not 5.

Orlando Cabrera, Jason Varitek, Keith Foulke, Derek Lowe (2004)
Curt Schilling (2004, 2001) [for Game 6 alone]
Josh Beckett (2003)
Half the Angel team (2002) [Garret Anderson, Scott Spiezio, Darin Erstad, Adam Kennedy, Shawn Wooten, Jarrod Washburn..]
Luis Gonzalez, Randy Johnson, Mark Grace, Danny Bautista (2001)

Not many people remember or talk about that series v the Angels in 2002.

I have never seen the Yankees dominated and just pummeled like they were during that series.
