Well, that's certainly him, but I'm not sure he'd receive any compensation for an ad like that - I'm pretty sure that if you win a seat to a major tournament thru Stars, they have a clause in their Agreement where they can use your image for promotional purposes.

Obviously Justin could give more insight than me though.

I stayed with Justin in Paris, and he mentioned something about "being in talks" with Pokerstars and inking deal that would make Raymer's and Moneymaker's "look like chump change." Can't wait to see the new Pokerstars.net comemrcials featuring our young Justin.

Maybe something was lost in translation but by the sounds of it Zee sounds like he's too full of himself. I know he's repected player/poster but WTF he's literally a nobody to the general public. He hasn't won anything mainstream and he probably isn't qualified to carry Chris or Greg's jockstrap much less sign a deal that makes their deal seem like "chump change".

For those of you who are slow, our favourite lawyer managed to get a clause saying that he's guaranteed to be Star's #1 compensated face into the contract.

I think Justin's bought into his own hype too much. I barely know who he is, and I've been to his website.

I was wondering if that's what Greg meant. I would be surprised they would do that, not knowing what the future would bring. I assume if it's true than clearly Greg has been capitalizing on his enormous popularity, fan-base and growing respect to negotiate a deal like that. Good for Greg if it's true! PS has really lucked out with Greg pitching for them. He's the nuts!

Whose commercial? If you are talking about ZeeJustin, no I have not. No disrespect intended, but I have never seen or even heard his name mentioned outside of 2+2. Raymer and Moneymaker are household names.

I'm just reading between the lines, but since Champions like Chris and Greg play free on Pokerstars.net and Zeejustin has yet to be invited into that inner sanctum (all the elite players are on .net doncha know).

Pokerstars could do more for ZJ than ZJ for Pokerstars.

I know Justin is a great player, but has no name/face recognition.

I think promoting an 18-19 year old kid that has had success in live tournies would be HUGE for pokerstars. Why do cigarette companies succeed? They always get new customers. Well rather than promoting middle aged players such as Greg they can promote ZJ as well and aim at attracting new young players to take their shot. I will however, agree that Zee is fairly cocky, which can be good and/or bad.

I think they could pick from dozens of young poker players who have placed in the hundreds of tourneys played each year. They are all the same to the poker public.

There is only a select # of WSOP ME winners though.

To say that ZJ will drarf Raymer's contract is conceded (if he indeed said that).

I would actually stop playing there if they did that. I dont think he deserves money that Greg is getting, but it is good business to attract young folks, and good for us too.

I clicked on the link. Is Justin the kid that is pictured in the 4th square? If so then I don't think that's such a big deal.

Was there some TV commercial that he was in? I've only seen the Raymer and Moneymaker pokerstars spots.

Anyway, facts are:
- Zee WILL win a big televised event in the near future (i dont know anything bout the boy or how cocky he is, but he has game thats for sure)
- Zee will become well known because of it (19 year old wins WPT event, gonna get pushed hard imo)
- Pokerstars would like to sign him up now BEFORE he wins this event because he can instantly say "i got here because of pokerstars"

Its a shrewd marketing move imo, plus im sure they can get him now cheaper than they could after he takes a big win.

He probably wont - im quite aware of how difficult it is to win one of these big buy in events.

It will happen however (when he hits 21 in two years he is going to make quite a splash at the WSOP if he keeps improving as he has been).

It doesn't take market analyst to figure out that Justin and Greg appeal to 2 very different target audiences. I'm pretty sure Stars can afford them both.

of course, part of the problem is that you have to be 21 to enter a WPT event....so I think Zee's chances are minimal.


However, I wouldn't put it past him to win an EPT event.



Now - can someone tell me more about what this whole 'marketing' thing is that they're talking about?
I'm really in the dark here?

I believe the WPT event held at the Aviation Club de France is 18+, as ZeeJustin went there before.

There is also the "PokerStars.com's Caribbean Poker Adventure" and the Party Poker Million might be 18+, but I didn't feel like looking.

I'm positive that the PPM cruise is 21 (not sure WHY it's 21...but it specifically says so on their website).

Not sure about the Paris and Stars-Caribbean events. I thought all WPT events were 21 but I concede that I don't really remember where I got that from.


I thought the France event that Justin went to was the EPT one. Did he play in the WPT event at the Aviation also.


FWIW - I played a Stars satellite the other day with Justin on my left the whole freaking time. What a pain....can I get a table-switch already??
I built up a nice stack (chip-leader for a bit)..and let it dwindle away.
Then Justin came from out of nowhere (pretty short-stacked at one point) and built his stack way up...then caught a couple of tough beats (whereas my stack-dwindling issues were all my own damn fault).

Very interesting watching him play. It was pretty obvious who the class of the table was imo.

Even if he (or anyone else) is the best poker player in the world, there is a chance that he will NEVER win a televised tournament just due to the amount of variance in these tournaments with huge fields.
