Goal(s):
4-8 table the 55s with 8% ROI.
Play 250 of them. (Low I know, but with school going strong I don't expect to play much.)

And maybe a 109 or two.

Calling Tyler_Cracker the next time he completes from the SB on my BB after everyone has folded to him, I raise, he calls, then he check-raises me big-time on the flop, which of course I missed. Other goals: one metric ass-load of 33's and eliminating run-on sentences from my post, and world domination, and I think that's all, yeah, except for learning how to play live, and deal without forgetting that I'm dealing.

To not come home broke from vegas, and to be 8 tabling the 55s again at the end of the month. Since I will be on vacation for the first ten days of the month, I would like to get in 750 sngs.

2) I've finally realized that I suck at poker. In september I will actually *read* my pokerbooks, and study some topics on this forum. After september I will be a much better player than I am now.

Raptor's Goals.. (More of a Christmas List)

1: dont drop out of school again.
2: drop in on a bunch of unsuspecting tcu girls.
3: dont lose my entire bankroll in vegas.
4: win 5 22s in a row.
5: play 200 sngs in a day (most ive done is 173.. i know im lazy..)
6: play 225 sngs in a day.
7: WIN over those 225 sngs i played in a day.
8: win the HUC.
9: if i dont win the HUC get blasted and wake up with 2 strippers.
10: PWN

1) Play the remaining 150 22s to get at a total of 500.
2) Evaluate where I stand and if I should move up to the 33s. Try not making this decision completely based on ROI but analyze play strength and donk frequency.
3) Play the crypto hourly bonii + PokerPlex, all Party bonii up to 10x raked hands, the remaining two IGMPAY bonii + any other interesting promotions.
4) Use Eastbays tool more to analyze my game (at least 2 tourneys a day).
5) Finally writing Empire to close my account so that I can open a new one in a couple of months with rakeback.
6) clearly plan my playing time and balance it with family life, work and sleep requirements.

Oh, I forgot one:
7) Stop fantasizing about going pro to get rid of the many real world hassles. Accept the real world and deal with the hassles.

Goal making is such an usual event. The problem sometimes comes from the failure we make in setting them. For example, we should seriously consider setting goals for things that are within our control. FWIW, this is how I think about goals:

1) Play 1600 SNGs in September
2) Always play every hand to the best of my ability
3) Make as few mistakes as possible (pzwn!)
4) Finish Reading King Yao's book.

I'm taking 3 weeks off work to 4-table 11s and 22s. I need an ROI good enough to convince my wife I should quit the job I hate and play full time.

Somewhere around 75% should do it.

the answer, of course, is that very little is actually out of your control. Just because you cant 100% predict the outcome doesnt mean the outcome is beyond your control. Better to set goals and fall short than not set goals (if you shoot for the sun and land on the moon you still did all right [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img])

my goal for sept is to get in 500 20s, 500 30s, 500 50s. I plan to do this for the next 3 months to get closer to having a "true ROI" at each level so I can more properly guage where i should be playing (I have scorched each level and for certain periods of time and gotten slaughtered also, but dont have enough data to judge which is variance and which is closer to reality).

hah, nice. i had a similar "prove yourself" phase before i was allowed to quit my real world job. for all of you with girlfriends/wives, you know how impossible it is to explain "the long run" to them. fortunately for me, i run g00t during my test phase. good luck to you as well.

my goal for the month is 2k 22$ SNGs. if i can run at 18%+, October 1st i'll be moving up to the 33s and/or adding a few more tables to the mix.

- survive the myocardial infarction i'm sure to suffer with the start of hockey in 2 weeks
- determine before hand, which hospital has a hot spot, so that i can manage to still squeak in my measely 200 SnG's whilst recovering
- make an earnest attempt to NOT withdraw, allowing me to move up next month
- camp out at the airport tomorrow night, looking for a cheap vegas red-eye to sweat the SSTF-HUC gang
