Stupid Interview Questions
What are you supposed to say when the interviewer asks, "What are your weaknesses?"
Gee, I steal company equipment and photocopy my ass when no one is around. So really, what might a good response be. |
Re: Stupid Interview Questions
Sometimes I just work too hard.

Re: Stupid Interview Questions
You should say "I suck at the search function".
Just giving you a hard time - I wouldn't have searched for that one, either. |
Re: Stupid Interview Questions
Say this-"I find it challenging to maintain a strong work/life balance." Corporate suckups love to hear that chit.

Re: Stupid Interview Questions
Depends on what kind of job your are applying for... If it is a customer service type job try answering that you tend to see and sympathize with the customer's point of view and get upset when you can't help them... This is exactly what they are hiring you to do anyways so it is not really a weakness..
The trick is to make your "weakness" sound like a stregth when it applies to the job you are looking to get |
Re: Stupid Interview Questions
Quick! Here's a red brick. Tell me five things you can do with it. Go!

Re: Stupid Interview Questions
I believe the best answer is to mention a past weakness you've had in a work environment and then explain how you overcame that weakness.

I think saying crap like "I just work too hard" sounds phony and more interviewers will see right through it. |

Prepare ahead of time and have the weaknesses ready to go - know how to turn them into strengths. |

Some interviewers absolutely despise the bullshit. I would never, ever hire anyone who said "my weakness is that I work to hard". If they start feeding me crap like that, the interview is essentially over (I'll go through the motions of the rest of the interview, but I've already crossed them off the list). Some interviewers just want to be told the truth. If I have to BS my way through an interview, I don't want the job in the first place. |

As an interviewee I'm just not interested in any job where the interview process is that scripted. this is obviously a personal choice and industry/job dependent. --turnipmonster |

I'd probably respond with "well I like taking half days too, but it's usually not possible". |

Re: Stupid Interview Questions
Just day lack of experience. They already know you lack experience cause they have seen your resume. If you aren't lacking in experience, why not go for something new?

[/ QUOTE ] Meh, everyone makes up some bullshit answer to this lame-assed and yet always-asked interview question. All this question really answers is if the interviewee was intelligent enough to spend 5 minutes coming up with a bullshit answer good enough that the interviewer won't be able to smell it. |

Re: Stupid Interview Questions
A guy I know applied to be a ticket writer at a Las Vegas sportsbook. He was fresh out of college, had no experience in casinos, but wanted to work in the sportsbook. HR sent him to the book to interview with the sports manager. He sat in the manager's office, and waited and waited. The manager would repeatedly come in to do the interview, then get called away for something or other before the interview began.
About the third time they were interrupted, the manager asked him, "What's 40% of 40?" "Huh? Um....16." "You start Monday." This college kid went on to run some of the biggest sportsbooks in Vegas--and when he interviews ticket writers, he always asks them, "What's 40% of 40?". Of course, if they have big tits, that question is not a deal breaker. |
