BB with 88 vs LAG

2/4 Stars 6 max. Aggressor here is loose and aggressive, but not stupid. He is not a total muppet, he is just too aggressive, particuarly preflop, and predicatable -- if I knew his hand I know how he will act. I know I made at least one mistake on this hand, maybe two.

Villian raises UTG. Folded to me with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. I just call.

4.5 small bets and the Flop: 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

I checkraise (I know he is betting again), he calls.

3 bbs to the Turn: J:brick:

I bet, he calls. At this point I suspect two overcards.

5 bbs and the River: 4:brick:

I bet...

I'll include some other thoughts on this hand later.

i was gonna say trey bay thay pray flay, but nay, not in the bb

i don't see any mistakes, unless you think he will bluff ace high on the river but won't call with it

I 3bet preflop all day long.

I also don't see anything wrong with the rest of it.

hmmm....looking for mistakes, but I don't see anything too bad. Basically, I thought the same thing as miles ( but with out the gay "ay" introduction)

Also, are you british? I always thought you were american for some reason.

I am pure Mississippi white trailer trash. What did a spell wrong to make you think I was British?

never heard a non-brit use it before.

I use the term muppet instead of donkey. I think it sounds cooler. I imagine I'm actually playing muppets sometimes, doing weird and sometimes virtually random things. Some poster used the term once, and I loved it so much I adopted it.

like the Jim Henson muppets? If so, which ones? I think you could make good use of Gonzo, Animal, Miss Piggy, Rizzo, and several others.

3-bet pf

I like this whole hand other than PF (and would like PF with 55)

Results and thoughts

I bet, he folded. I think if I checked I would have initiated a bluff. I think he would have raised the river if he had a hand like JX (X = broadway). He folds a hand AT or KT to a bet, but I think he would bet these hands if checked to.

Preflop was my "possible" mistake, but looking back I like it (though I don't hate the idea of 3 betting -- I just had "one of those reads" on this cat postflop, which is why I didn't). I think I clearly should have checked the river.

Re: Results and thoughts

good river analysis. I think river's a check.

Re: BB with 88 vs LAG

I would check the turn because he's raising when he has Jacks, it'd be tough for you to fold to a raise, and I don't think he's taking a free card hardly ever.

Your welcome.

Jaxup,
I'm Australian not British. And I just imagine Gonzo with a couple of cards.

BTW- NH (other than the river)

Or an overpair, which he will play like this.

Not really.

You are probably correct on this point.

Re: BB with 88 vs LAG

Edit: Never mind - apparantly I can't distinguish between 'overpair' and 'overcards'. Anyway, I don't really see the downside in checking if you're pretty sure he'll bet. I'd like to get to showdown vs. this player, because I occasionally raise this turn with OC's when I'm on tilt and i'm probably not as aggro as him.

I play this the same on all streets.
