Bubble push with AQ
4 left in 10+1 on party, villian is to my left and we both have about 850, other two at about 3000 and 2300 or so, folded to me, i push in SB with AQ, villian calls from BB and shows KJ of clubs. right play?
edit: took out results |
Re: Bubble push with AQ
Blinds? And next time don't show results.
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
was your AQ suited ?
i think that this was not a right play there... maybe rais 3 - 4 times bb and then push on flop providing only small cards come. than you give him a chance to fold , or if u see a 10 or j or k , i would consider folding. |
Re: Bubble push with AQ
If the blinds were atleast 50/100 pushing was good play.
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
no you need AK to push here.
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
the blinds were at least that iirc, a 3x raise would be be at least half my stack.
i'm tired of this "no you need AK" garbage, playing that tight doesn't do anything but get blinded out half the time. |

Re: Bubble push with AQ
well, fine, i guess i'm not in the mood. i'm following the guide from here about the 10+1's, but if i don't get much in terms of cards (i.e. big pocket pairs) i don't see how to get ITM with it

Re: Bubble push with AQ
In this situation, considering the size of your stack and his, and the blinds, not only is it an obvious push, but you want him calling with KJs. He was the one who made the mistake, not you, although if the blinds were 150/300 or something, his call isn't that bad I suppose.

Re: Bubble push with AQ
everyone here is making fun of you. You need to do some serious studying if there is even .01% part of you that hesitates here. So I'm sick of this "You need AQ" crap. Im almost positve this would be a push with just about any ace and probably more.

Re: Bubble push with AQ
my confusion relates to "with 4 players left play even tighter" kind of stuff.
now that i consider the blinds though, yeah you're right. |

Re: Bubble push with AQ
so say the situation is switched, he pushes in SB, and i'm in BB. given my stack is even less now, and the blind structure, do i call?
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
With AQo? Absolutely. With KJs? It depends.

Re: Bubble push with AQ
whats with all this sucking up to the noobs???

Re: Bubble push with AQ
alright.. yeah i guess i'm just confused overall for hand selections when short stacked and close to the bubble, or even ITM.

I'm feeling generous.

alright.. yeah i guess i'm just confused overall for hand selections when short stacked and close to the bubble, or even ITM. [/ QUOTE ] Well, don't go blanket calling with AQo. I mean if you had the 2k stack or whatever, and the 3k stack pushed, and the other two were on 800, and the blinds were 150/300, you should probably generally fold. But when you are the shortest or 2nd shortest stack, and facing a push from the 2nd shortest or shortest, AQo is virtually a mandatory call. But KJs, you are likely to be behind and he would need to be pushing a large range; however if the blinds are sufficiently high, and you think your chances are better to take this chance as a dog than get chips from the 2k and 3k stacks, then a call is perfectly ok. |
Re: Bubble push with AQ
right.. also when my stack is low enough, basically i push with just about anything if not doing so will have me blinded out, say in the next orbit?
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
Well no not quite, but not far off, I suppose.
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
i guess what i mean is, say 4 people left, if i have what i expect to be the best hand out of my next 4, then push.
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
Again, that depends really. The main thing is to keep Fold Equity (so you have enough to make the people after you fold, without the best hands), often times on the bubble, your hand doesn't really matter (when opening).
|
Re: Bubble push with AQ
could you explain fold equity a little more? i've heard about it but really don't understand it.
another problem i get is with blind steals. just now i sucked out 3rd by one guy going out the hand before my blinds put me at 0. i started ahead with 4 people a bit, but they raise my blind and i don't have that great of cards, what can i do but fold my chips away? |
Re: Bubble push with AQ
There's so many variables that are at stake, you're probably better off getting SNGPT and playing around with that, it's not cheap, but worth it. It's by eastbay. Fold equity just really is a posh way of saying 'how likely are they to fold to my (re-)raise/push'.
