Screw sets, post your 44,55,66 hands

Just scanning through my last 40k hands during chem, and i am a tiny winner with 22, a small winner with 33, a sig loser with 44,55, and 66- and a winner from 77 and up. Sample size, blah blah-

Combining those three losers - 44-66, i have around 500 total hands, which i am going to go through and post ones i think i misplayed and ones that i don't think i misplayed (but no sets it is likely). Post some of your own - if i can't clear this up i may end up just playing them in the blinds like i do 22 and 33.

a set of fives

what's really sad is that i can't find any interesting 22-66 hands at all. most of my small PP hands feature me either flopping monsters or at the other extreme folding on the flop. toss in a few boring call down to the river blind defense / steal hands and you have one really uninteresting group of hands ....zzzzzzz

I lost one of the three below. can you guess?

I wish I was at home and can dig up some of my hands. I'm new to playing shorthanded and have been playing Poker Room's five handed tables. I mix it up but I occasionally just toss hands like 44,55 UTG. Is this terrible?

I'm guessing it was this hand:

you 3-bet preflop and led the flop. when he responds by raising the turn on that sort of suited / connected board.... i hike up my skirt and run for the hills. seriously, if he didn't complete a draw or doesn't have a pair now... you still aren't in great shape: if he has overs, he has 6 outs. if he holds a single club he has another 9 outs. if the board pairs again, you pair is counterfitted = 6 more outs. he could have a gutshot 2 ways... etc.

Re: Screw sets, post your 44,55,66 hands

Maybe we should all combine our stats to get a decent sample size. I am thinking as a whole we probably place to much value on small pairs and should be considering folds with these in hands like this Baron hand.

When I get a second I will post filter 125K hands or so and see. My prediction is that I am a small loser with these hands even playing them more selectively perhaps than others.

i am a moderate winner with 22 and a larger loser with 33-44. i am a down 100 with 55. 66 and above i am a moderate to large winner.

i think the difference is that with 22 i basically stopped playing it unless the pot was multiway and then i only played for set value. i think i often overplay the others. so, i think 44 should be downgraded to the same range and style as 22 and 33.

i think 55 should be downgraded too but i think it has value in steal situations. there is no reason that all these hands are not winners in the long run.

hand, # of times, BB/Hand

66, 513, .17
55, 484, (.07)
44, 466, .04
33, 481, .05
22, 520, (.07)

Totalled together

2464, .03

So I am happy to report at least these are small winners. Better than I predicted.

33 481 .04
44 488 (.08)
55 519 .02

Just goes to show how little these results matter. Look at the difference between 66 and 55.

66 568 .22
55 655 (.01)
44 621 (.12)
33 564 (.07)
22 587 .06

total is .08bb/hand.

clealy 33-55 should be winners if 22 is. so i suppose this is a leak and a fairly big one yet easy to fix. i will simply stop goin so far with the smaller pairs.

would love to see some more ppls results with these hands. is it possible that all of us are overvaluing and overplaying 55? is 66 that inately stronger?

About 55k hands (around 250 instances each, () are negative):

66 .11 BB/hand
55 (.12)
44 .16
33 (.09)
22 .3

The trend continues...

When I open PT now it doesn't display starting hands. Anyone else encounter this or is it a known bug in PT?
