Oaks club food

Is there anything edible on their menu? Any recommendations?

i've only ever had the kung pao chicken. Edible is the most positive adjective I would assign it.

Everytime I'm there I get turned off by people slopping it up on Asian cuisine that is kinda stinky. I've heard a few food poisoning stories. I once sat next to a dude eating shrimp salad that was 70% runny mayo and 30% frozen baby shrimp. Nasty. Eat at your own risk. There's actually a great mexican place down the street on San Pablo nearby. I think it's called La Cantara or something like that..Good luck!

I'd go to Bay Street and eat at that weird place with the shish kebobs and mashed potatos.

I've only been going 2 weeks now.

Ive had their fried rice which was not terrible.

The burger and tuna melt were also decent.

The french fries were actually the best thing I've ate there. They're a thicker version of Jack n the Box fries, so they don't taste too much like potatoes, but are nonetheless good.

I just won't eat anything asian at a cardclub...maybe a bowl of noodles, but everything else just doesn't smell right. Food is one area where I will go with my read.

btw, heading over there in an hour or two. I'm the Japanese kid seeing 50% of the flops.

Tell me about it! I can't even remember how many times I've had people spill some nasty soup on me at Bay 101. These people slurp it up, chew with their mouths open, and the fact that most of them are missing teeth means that half of that food ends up all over the place. *Shudder*

I played it from 3:30 to 9:30PM. It was 4-handed at the time. The big donator (#2) left at 8:30 or 9. I only saw a couple of these responses before I headed over, so I had the potstickers which were as bad as potstickers can be, and then I starved myself until I got back to the city.

Turkey sandwiches were good, not processed, fresh carved.

At least they were when I was there in the mid '90s.

Game conditions

It was 10-handed from 2 to about 7:30PM, and the game was good primarily because a HUGE donator sat down around 4PM and busted out at 7:30. He would call any pair to the river and only get aggressive when he had something good. I don't play at the Oaks much, but I recognized one guy who is pretty good, except he's prone to tilt. Another guy who said he's a Berkeley grad student in math was quite good, a few other guys seemed tight & straighforward. Then a few guys who saw too many flops and were a little bit too loose postflop. Then another donator sat down around 5. He played some hands blind, straddled a couple of times, etc. He stayed and played shorthanded with us until about 8:45.

All in all, not as good as the typical 40 game at Bay 101. But less than half the drive from where I live so I'll probably play next Friday too.

I didn't see any Abby there. And they screwed me by skipping my name on the list when it started at 2PM so I don't know who the host is.
