Paris Poker Room Opening Night
Just wanted to tell everyone the new PAris Poker Room will be open tommorrow, Sep 2. The limits will be 4-8 and above. I'll be dealing tommorrow night and throughout the weekend..Hope to see you there...
I'll give you a review of the poker room from a dealer's perspective in a few days... |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
Huh...is it an actual "room"? Or a roped off area near slots? I thought they just announced this thing a month or so ago...can't believe it's open so soon...
|
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I have seen it. It's not really a room, basically they took out a blackjack pit and put in poker tables. While it might not really have "room" status, it's in a FANTASTIC location in the casino, and I wouldn't be at all surprised if it does really well. Paris is a generally nice casino to be in, I have always liked it, but it didn't have poker... But now it does!
Talked to someone who's "in" there and they said this will be a "soft" opening to get the kinks out, get employees hired and shuffled around, get people used to the idea of paris having a poker room etc etc, you know, the kind of stuff all new rooms must go through when they first open. I suspect the usual kinks that happen in new rooms on opening day, but overall I'm quite hopeful Paris will fill an unfilled poker niche on that side of the strip. al |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
Yeah, we were pretty surprised it would open so soon. The dealers thought opening night would be the 15th, but word came out yesterday.
It's pretty exciting to be opening a new room...from a dealer's perspective. |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
No question there will be kinks, but in the long run I believe it'll be a successful room.

Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
where?
any 10/20 planned? |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
|
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
How many tables?
|
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
Nine tables.
Opens at six pm tonight. al |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I never understood about "planned" games... It's whatever people want to play... if a place like the MGM can't get a 10-20 going (except Saturdays), then how can Paris? I'm sure it will be like Bally's, or any other smaller room...plenty of 1-2nl w/ 2/4 and 4/8...

Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I'll try to play a session there this week.

Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I love it -
you can now casino hop from Harrahs to the IP to the Flamingo to Bally's to Paris to Aladdin and hit every poker room on the way to the MGM - LOL good times - RB |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
No you can't. The Barbary Coast is in the way as well as O'Sheas.
|
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
So this room is in the main casino --- SLOTS OF FUN all around hummmmm-----no what I thuoght they would do ---
"Paris will fill an unfilled poker niche on that side of the strip." What NICHE is Paris looking to fill on this side of the strip? Are they looking to get some RED CHIP and higher games? Not trying to be a turd here but it sounds like a Bally's South room. Same set-up same games ------ |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
Personally, I love the Bally's setup. With the bar right there, the cocktail service is fast and frequent. The location pulls in casual players. And they added a flatscreen displya for the waitlist and shuffle machines.
If Paris offers a smiliar environment with 6/12, I'll be happy to play there. |

Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I am looking forward to some reviews. It couldn't happen to a nice casino, mainly because it's my wife's favorite. This means I may be lving there.

How do you feel as a player when a large group, yourself included, all want to start a game/limit, and you're turned down? Maybe MGM is the exception to other casinos... People walk up and want to play 8-16, they spread it... 15-30...they spread it... Crazy Pineapple/H.O.R.S.E., they spread it...you get my point.... I just thought a room like Paris should spread what the people want to play... |

Again I will ask... How do you feel as a player when a large group, yourself included, all want to start a game/limit, and you're turned down? [/ QUOTE ] Disappointed. But I don't expect Paris to offer a $5 craps table just because 10 guys and I want to play the pass line for a redbird. Of course, the reason that all of these rooms will spread the lower limits is that the way rake and time charges work they pretty much make the same no matter what game is being dealt, they just need butts in the seats. Not true for other table games. |
Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I talked to a manager last night. They said they would not be spreading less than 3-6. There was one 4-8 late last night and several 3-6. They said they will spread 3-6, 4-8, 5-10, 6-12, 10-20 and whatever else the players want, plus kill games. They're also considering spreading no less than 1-3 or 2-5 no limit in place of 1-2. I encouraged them to do so and not spread 1-2, although last night there was a 1-2 game going (it did have a lot of money on it).
The location in the casino is fantastic, right near a bar, and practically the first pit you come to when you enter from the front doors. The games last night were quite good while I was there. Time will tell, but it seems like it will turn out to be a fine new room. al |
PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
Harrah's is KILLING gamblers. Fifty (50) joints in thirteen states, also under Horseshoe Gaming, and Caesar's Entertainment. The largest gaming company in the world. NO THANKS...NO MORE of any of THEIR JOINTS. I'm an informed consumer. I am not stupid enough to wait on the feds to find out, why all the hotel rooms are so high.

[/ QUOTE ] So buy Harrah's stock, kick back and earn, and either stay on topic or STFU. I am looking forward to visiting Paris's poker room (nook?). The Paris buffet, esp. the morning one, is one of my favorites, and the chance to hit that, then sit down for some poker either there or at nearby Bally's (which I have also enjoyed in the past), is tantalizing. Might have to dust off that old Park Place Connections card and see how the rates are for January .... |

The Paris buffet, esp. the morning one, is one of my favorites, [/ QUOTE ] I'm with you. That's close to heaven on earth, pigging out at that buffet and then parking for a long session. This has the makings of a popular room. I'll wait on the reviews. |
Re: PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
What happened to "AllVegas" for the grand opening? Still one of my favorite bookmarked sites, but he must be out of town or something...didn't see anything on the new Hilton room or Paris. People like certain rooms for certain reasons... Just from preliminary reports, this room offers nothing out of the ordinary, to make it stand out/unique, whatever... 7 or 8 rooms have opened up this year, and aside from Wynn and MGM, I'm not impressed by any of these pokerrooms...

Re: PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
What's with you and the anti-Harrah's crap? You seem to be going from post-to-post on a corporate conspiracy rant. You get bad room service? The wife get hooped at the blackjack table? You a disgruntled former employee sitting in his underwear and cleaning guns? Like another poster said, buy some stock if you think they're so freaking evil. Evil corporations tend to make a lot of money.
Try the breakfast buffet at Paris. Maybe it will cheer you up. |
Re: PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
Being in the gaming industry, you hear so many things about the "evil empire" known as Harrahs... I, for one, go from property to property in Vegas and can't tell who it's being run by...they all seem to have a unique feel to me...

Re: Paris Poker Room Opening Night
I went to the Paris poker room opening night (Friday). They had No-Limit and low-limit. I played No-Limit here.
I went to the Hilton poker room on opening night (Friday). They had No-Limit and low-limit. I played 3-6 here (which soon turned into a 4-8 with a half kill). I enjoyed my visits to both rooms (as well as my 6 hours in the Mirage 10-20 on Friday night). Both new rooms had Speedy cocktail service. Hilton has the on-screen waiting list monitors (a big plus). Hilton has some sort of royal flush progressive jackpot they take a buck for and a $3 max rake. Hilton has a swipe card for $1 an hour back in comps. I like the location of the sub shop directly next to the Hilton poker room. Both new rooms had a very nice flow of happy tourists. The only negative I experienced that night was at Paris, when the dealer pushed me an $800 pot. I tipped him a buck and not only did he not say "thank you"; He actually glared at me with apparent disgust. The pot I had before that (different dealer), I tossed the dealer $2, so it's not like I'm a stiff. I'll check both rooms out again later in the week. Best of Luck Howard |
Re: PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
Paris breakfast buffet is about the best I have ever had anywhere, including bellagio, mirage, mandalay. I love the freshly made cherry crepes. They have some hella pastries too, and the coffee is fabulous.
As for harrah's killing gambling, the answer is easy: if you don't want to play there, go somewhere else, but don't hijack a good poker room thread with corporate hate mail. Their gambling is on par with everyone else's on the strip, so what's the difference. al |
Re: PARIS IS A HARRAH\'S JOINT
Hey, how much does this legendary Paris buffet cost? And (probably more importantly) is it hard to get a poker room comp for it? How late does it go?

Paris Buffet hours
From Paris buffet page:
[ QUOTE ] Hours of Operation: Breakfast - Daily from 7:00a.m. to 11:30a.m. Lunch - Monday through Saturday from 11:30a.m. to 5:30p.m. Dinner - Monday through Thursday from 5:30p.m. to 10:00p.m.; Friday and Saturday from 5:30p.m. to 11:00p.m. and Sunday from 4:30p.m. to 10:00p.m. Sunday Champagne Brunch from 11:30a.m. to 4:30p.m., and includes unlimited champagne. [/ QUOTE ] I have done breakfast there twice. The first time (a Saturday) we ate so much we were fueled for the next 10 hours of poker at Bally's and Imperial Palace. The second time (a Sunday) I was hungover enough to enjoy only one glass of champagne. Food there is pretty good. I preferred the pure breakfast over the Sunday brunch. It was cheaper for one, and for second there were omelettes and fresh grilled sausage on order (the chicken and apple sausage and andouille sausage were both excellent). Also, I was not hungover, so take this for what it's worth. |
Re: Paris Buffet hours
Paris breakfast buffet is by far the best. I think it's around $13.99 before 11, then goes up a couple bucks for lunch. We always hit it around 10:30, eat breakfast and hang around for the Killer Kabobs, and huge ass peeled shrimp that they bring out for lunch. Best buffet on the strip bar none.

Re: Paris Buffet hours
Paris and bally's don't comp for poker. I believe they do this specifically to keep it mostly tourists and not locals. Despite the lack of comps, bally's often has mega action games (mostly due to the lack of local rocks), and paris probably will too. Screw the comps tho, the paris buffet is worth the price anyway. I also prefer the pure breakfast buffet over lunch, but it's all good.
