December summary: all live and online tournaments
Well, after having a terrible November, where I lost (invest?) about 14k online and 24k total (including the Foxwoods tourney). I had a pretty good December. All my live and online tournaments are posted in the following link
December Summary of course in my blog. As you know, most of the pro poker players don't post their results publicly, possibly because of one of the following causes: 1) They are not interested about other people knowing. 2) They are afraid of the IRS. 3) They just don't know their own results. 4) Their results if posted will show that they are really not that good. 5) They are lazy (it takes some time to make a post like this). 6) Some other reason I can't think about. For all the haters over there, I know they think this is all about bragging, and of course there is an important element of it, no doubt about that; (still not sure how this information could hurt them). For me is all about information, I'm a statistics freak; I remember when 8 years old to write down all the possible statistics from the World Soccer Cup in Argentina (1978). As long as I can remember, I have always been thirsty of statistics information about all kind of events, I have all kind or weird (useless?) information stored in my mind, like all the World Soccer Cup final teams (and the score in every championship game) from 1930-2002, all the best movie Oscar winners, the first 100 digits of Pi, and so on. I know some of the readers in this forum aspire to be a pro poker player some day, or at least have poker as a good 2nd source of income. I hope the information I post from time to time here and on my blog could help them in some way. Any questions or comments are welcome, on my blog or here. David |

Thanks for the post. Ever play any ring games?

Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
I for one really appreciate the time and effort you contribute to this forum. It's always great to get insight from the elite players. I espescially like your humble tone and demeanor that is evident through out your posts here. In no way shape or form do I look at your posts like you are bragging. In all actuality many of us play vicariously through you and hope one day to reach that status. So, thanks again, and congrats on a great month.

Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
Thanks for posting that, David.
I think it's nice to see you're doing well and I also like the 'behind the scenes' look you give us. Prospero aņo nuevo! |
Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
Nice job... Funny you mentioned the statistics about the World Cup. I used to do the same thing, collecting all sorts of data from WC and European Championships, when I was a kid. Too bad I'm not doing it with my poker results...

Thanks for the post. Ever play any ring games? [/ QUOTE ] I didn't play ring games in December (online or live). I don't play at all live ring games (too boring). And all 2005 I have played very little online, usually 30-60 limit holdem on Party. I lost about 3k on ring games in November, and I have won about 16k in the year in a very limitted schedule. |
Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
Exactly. Go Sirio! Get busy!

Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
Because we are sharing......
What kind of dedicated bankroll do you keep for playing online? What about playing live? What kind of bankroll would you recommend for playing 200+15 tourneys? How about 15K tourneys? What kind of system do you use to take money out of your bankroll to pay your living expenses? Are you filing as a pro in 2005? Good luck in the new year! |
Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
You are such a braggart! The first 100 digits of Pi! I am strugling to remeber Pi. Great job David and thanks for posting. I wish you the best for the new year.

May i ask how many computer screens do you have to play so many tournaments [/ QUOTE ] I have 2 computers to play poker (there are 5 total at home) with 2 big 21" monitors with 1600x1200 resolution, a Dell 2001FP and a Samsung SyncMaster 213T. I like to play at most 4 tournaments at a time, and like to play 2 in each monitor, so I still have space in each one to surf the internet or run other programs [ QUOTE ] i.e do you have background music etc etc . Also what about interuptions / or do you not have any ? [/ QUOTE ] Well, I have 2 kids, 9 months old and 2 yrs and 8 months old, so what do you think about the noise and interruptions? Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
The bankroll of course depends on how good of a player you are, if you have additional income and the level of your general expenses. For these kind of questions I advise you to read Gambling Theory by Mason Malmuth.
I basically keep all the money I won as my poker bankroll, and cash out as needed for family expenses; but I used to have a 2nd job as University Professor; beginning 2006 there will be some changes with the money management for sure. |
Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
David,
Great reports. You are one of the few reasons I still frequent this board. Good luck in the future, Scott |
Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
David - congrats.
I've lurked a few of your tourney's and you are inspiring to watch. Your blog is fantastic. Quick question: How long have you been playing? Or better yet, how long has it taken to get to your level of play? I'm playing 18 mos now, and while I'm getting better, it seems to be sloooooow in the coming. Any words of wisdom for a fan and "wannabe"? |

Re: December summary: all live and online tournaments
David,
I am very glad you were able to juggle poker and academics during the transition. Your results obviously dictate that you are a natural poker player. Please keep posting. It is sad that some posters that become famous or start winnings huge sums of money stop posting.(fossilman). His posts were invaluable. I think we all consider the same of you. Thanks again for posting your results. I felt asking you personally if you were winning money was a bit rude. Good luck next year. I plan to play live tournaments in the upcoming year so hopefully we'll hook up. Mack |

Cool. Thx. Did you cheat or did you know 'em all? [/ QUOTE ] I cheated in the Czechoslovakia name (Spanish is Checoslovaquia), have to check it, also I have to check the It-Hu final in 38, always have trouble to remember if the score was 4-2 or 2-1. BTW, the En-Ge final in 66 was overtime also, with the ghost goal by England in overtime. I was in the stadium in the 94 final and Baggio impressed me so much, too bad he missed his penalty kick. |
