What\'s the proper way of disposing magazines?

I'm packing and I have 100+ magazines sitting on my shelf that I wanna get rid of. How do I go about throwing these away to avoid any fines?

What's wrong with your trash can? Why would you get fined?

Well, for newspapers you have to either tie them up with yarn or some [censored] like that, but I'm pretty sure it's different for magazines.

Give a call to whoever charges you for trash pick up and ask. I think you are right about magazines being diferent, but I don't know what impact that has.

That's only if you want them recycled. You can just put them in a trash bag.

Some cities will fine you or charge you more if you don't recycle.

Are you serious? I guess I'd be in jail then because there's no way I'd let them try to force me to recycle. I'm pretty good about doing it, but this kind of crap really pisses me off.

If your city requires you to recycle, then my response would be burn them on the steps of city hall.

Recylcing is a big scam anyway, it doesn't save anyone money, and in most cases it actually produces more pollution from the process of turning the disposed items into a new useable form.

Penn & Teller did an episode of Bullshit! on it... quite interesting actually.

Where I used to live, the city wanted to charge us extra to recycle. So we sort our crap and then pay them extra to sell it? Riiiiiiiight.

Take them to a used bookstore, they'll be thrilled to take them off your hands. That's what I did a few years back. I had a bunch of weightlifting mags (those suckers are expensive!). I first went to the Salvation Army, but they said they don't except mags of any type, just books.

Yup. Some not very good thinking there.

Besides, anyone who wants to confuse the benefits of recycling with your likelihood of having a non-exploitive government needs their head examined.

Yes. Thank God people that don't like government arm-twisting aren't in charge on anything.
