2 Choking Teams

Does anyone really expect *both* the Colts and Seahawks to make it through to the Super Bowl? Home field or no, these are not teams that historically have come up big when it mattered. The Hawks choked last year to the Rams at home, and the Colts will limp into the playoffs with 2 losses, basically no games in 4 weeks, and of course, their own ghosts to exorcise. Could be an interesting postseason.

According to a CBS poll during the Chargers/KC game, like 80% of those who reponded expect this to happen. Then again, I'm on your ignore list anyways, so you can't read this incredibly informative post. [censored].

Um.. both? No, but then again how can anyone have either team at greater than, say, 60% to even make the SB?

Re: 2 Choking Teams

all of those "Colts vs. The Field" bets look kind of silly now.

with both Pitt and NE returning to form, the AFC is as deep as I ever remember it being

4 weeks ago, I'm sure plenty of people thought the Colts had greater than a 60% chance

well, yeah, 4 weeks ago, but even then I didn't think it was all too much higher.

it was for this reason that I thought the colts would come out today and try to make a statement, but then I heard about all the injuries and resting people this game makes more sense. I don't think it counts as limping when they pretty much gave this game away today for the sake of the playoffs - it'll be up to the coaches to motivate them properly and put this game and the next into perspective.

I agree that a lot of teams could give them more trouble than anticipated. the bengals, for example, gave them a really good game a month or so ago. still, I think with home field and their 1st string out there, they've gotta be big favorites.

I don't see anyone in the NFC stopping the seahawks, I'm a Tampa fan but we just don't match up. chicago maybe, but their defense will have to step it up BIG. anything could happen of course but I still think the chances of these two teams meeting is high.

How about the Giants? They had 3 chances at game winning field goals(on the road in Seattle). This seems evidence enough for me that they can "hang" with the Seahawks.

The last time both #1 seeds made it was 1993 Buffalo/Dallas. I think the Seahawks are much worse than average for a #1 seed, so I would bet against it although the whole NFC pretty much sucks so who knows.

I'll say this much, if they do both make it to Detroit, Seattle might regret their decision to stick SA back in for another TD to tie the record after they had already pulled him. You know that had to irk the hell out of all the Colts defensive starters that were rested today.

If the Colts defenders need more motivation in the Super Bowl than winning the Super Bowl, they are in trouble anyways.

I cant see the Colts making it to the Super Bowl. They are jinxed. Two weeks ago the elderly 72 Dolphins were in jeopardy of not having a reason to get out of bed anymore, and now they are dragging ass into the playoffs. Terrible combination, plus the Pats are starting to play better and the Steelers are playing well too. I wouldnt worry about Seattle either, and I cant tell you why.

The Seahawks are better than almost anyone gives them credit for, especially at home.

Unfortunately, the Redskins have been playing very well, the Giants are still good, and the Bears with a passing offense are all very capable of beating the Hawks. So is Tampa.

Gotta like having home-field + bye though.

Re: 2 Choking Teams

Re: Patriots

This team is not even close to a playoff caliber team. 3 wins against teams with winning records. The only impressive win was against Tampa Bay. Atlanta didn't have thier QB, and also were flat out screwed by the refs. Pittsburgh had NE beat had it not been for an additional 52 seconds on the clock which gave N.E the extra time to score the winning points (check ESPN for it, it was posted promptly after the conclusion of that game). New England returning to form is the biggest joke I might have heard this year, seeing as they beat the Jets, Bills, Fins(which was almost a loss) and lost to any team other than Tampa that resembled a decent team that could block a pass rush.

Most power rankings have them at 2nd in the NFL. This is clearly wrong.

So you're basing your claim that they are not a playoff-caliber team right now on the fact they looked horrible early in the season with half their players out?

You're an idiot and should be banned from the sports forum.

Re: 2 Choking Teams

Teams Seattle has played with winning records.

@ Jacksonville - L0SS 14-26
vs Atlanta - WIN 21-18
@ Washington - LOSS 18-21 (OT)
vs Dallas - WIN 13-10
vs Giants - WIN 24-21 (OT)
vs Indy - WIN 28-13

Not an impressive game on there in my opinion. They barely squeaked out wins at home against several decent teams and then beat up on a team that the Houston Texans probably could have beat. Seattle is probably the best of the NFC still, but they haven't done much to prove it.

Re: Colts. "We ain't trippin'. We know what we have to do." - Edge
Whether it was the Chargers playing great, or the Colts being flat(prolly a combo of both) ... it doesn't change the fact that this is the best team in the NFL. If you don't see that, then you are just blinded by your own loyalties to your favorite team.

kyro 12-25-2005 05:38 PM

Are the Colts the best team in football right now?

I imagine the majority thinks they are.
