Re: $55 Quick check 1: 88 UTG
My suggestion: Raise to 600, fold to push from BB. Not sure what to do about push from MP. Pick one and hate it I guess.

[/ QUOTE ] The only thing is that if MP does push you have to call it and if BB is a good player, he'll come over the top with alot of hands. I probably would make the same play though since I don't expect a 55'er to push with alot of hands in BB. So basically to raise/fold is 50/50. |
Re: $55 Quick check 1: 88 UTG
What kind of range would you be pushing with as BB here? I'd be keeping it pretty tight, as he has 2/3 of your stack afterall... Now, if he had more like 1/3 of my stack I'd be doing it with a whole lot more hands. Bad thinking on my part?

Re: $55 Quick check 1: 88 UTG
I also am missing the beauty of pushing over the top of an MP push (with UTG still to act) from the BB with a wide range of hands. Please explain.

Re: $55 Quick check 1: 88 UTG
I meant that if MP folds, BB could come over the top of you if he suspects that you'll fold a lot of hands.

But even at a higher level (he knows I am good, he knows I know he is good), if you also standard raise with QQ+ and AK, Shania should be taken care of, making the standard raise... standard. Right? |
Re: $55 Quick check 1: 88 UTG
I'd just raise t550 ish and play some poker.

Hero ? [/ QUOTE ] BB is not going to come back at you without a real big hand. He will be very wary to put a RR move on you because you are raising from UTG and he SHOULD respect that. I'd raise ~3bbs and call pushes from SB and button, folding to a PF push from the other two. A call from MP is very unlikely and if thats the case, proceed with caution. A call from BB will put you in position which is nice. Whoever said raise to 550 and play some poker had it right IMO. |

A good player would respect the UTG raise. Now if he has reason the expect you'll fold to a RR then maybe. Even then he's risking his stack to an UTG raise. I just dont see it. |
