my little secret
5 handed 1k 6 max, literally my first hand at the table.
UTG raises to 45, and I call from the BB with A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Flop is J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] hero checks, villain $10, hero raises to $100, villain goes all in(he covers), and its my turn. |
Re: my little secret
Don't play 1k but I think you should repop pre to see what's up but I understand switching up the game every now and then. Played like this I guess I call?

Re: my little secret
QQ/KK 40% + (KQ/AJ/AQ/AK) 40%
much more likely than JJ/TT 20% eh? |
Re: my little secret
The min bet + all-in combo on the flop really smells of a monster. I muck here.

Re: my little secret
I like repopping preflop, as it stands, hmmmmm, I'm not sure, I still like calling, JJ/TT maybe..... might be vs. KQ or QQ/KK.
personally, I call. |

Re: my little secret
The way you opted to play it means u should call it
|
Re: my little secret
I'm calling in a heartbeat, and I'm astonished if I see something other than KK/QQ.
If you are gonna play sneaky preflop, which I like, I don't know how you can fold here. |
Re: my little secret

The way you opted to play it means u should call it [/ QUOTE ] I hate it when people say this. Obviously his hand is disguised. But villain's action seems to indicate he doesn't care at all what hero has. I can just see villain thinking "i'll just throw out a little bait with $10-see if anybody'll play with me. oh sweet! this guy's raising me...he must have something. all in." Do you guys think that KK bets $10 here? Or any hand that's afraid of giving up free cards? POSSIBLY KQ but I'd say TT and JJ are way too big a part of his range to be calling here. |
Re: my little secret
Why does a set bet $10 more than KK or AA here?
|
Re: my little secret
TJ is like also i guess.
|
Re: my little secret
I wish I could give you an explanation of why it is that a $10 bet signals one thing as opposed to another, but I can't place myself in the mind of somebody who does that. Based solely on experience these minbets tend to be monsters.

Re: my little secret
isnt the flop bet weird though? wtf hand bets $10 then reraises?
|

Re: my little secret
fair enough. I did beat him into the pot. He had 66 and of course I spiked an A and MHIG.
All in all i think calling is the right play despite the results. Once I flatcall preflop its probably correct to go broke on most flops that arent monotone or JT9 or something like that. |
Re: my little secret
Yeah I know that I was thinking it was a call. The more I thought about it tonight I got to thinking of all the min bets I had faced in this situation and they are sets a massive percentage of the time.
The logic is that the set is likely way ahead a majority of the time so they bet a little. Even if the other person has KQ or 89 for some reason and in those very few situations where they hit on the turn and you make a bad call with a set that is now behind----you still have a lot of outs to fill up on the river. The other 95% of the time even them calling your $10 bet is a +EV move for the person with the set. This is the only reasoning I can think of for the stupid min bets in these situations. |
Re: my little secret
i'd fold barring a read.
he looks like he used the ultimate fish play with a set: min betting. QQ or KK would definitely bet more on the flop, and i doubt QK would raise allin unless you are playing doyle brunson. |
Re: my little secret
i tend to ignore min bets, and act like no betting has occured, and it serves me well
if i raise and get reraised, its a check raise i min bet with crud btw, or ive misclicked why is my given hand range innaccurate, aside from discounting 66 or JT (which was implied, but give that an extra 10-15% of being beat and take it away evenly from the bluff or QQ/KK) min betting can mean anything, but if you bet weakly and get raised, dont you think youre being bluffed? especially if its from the passive player preflop? i think an overs + gutshot replay bluff is very likely here at high stakes play |
