Just as I did last year, I will post weekly results in one thread so we don't clutter the SB forum any more that we already have.

Look for results posted by Tuesday or Wednesday, as a reply to this post.

Congratulations to the Week #1 “3+1 NFL Challenge- 2005” champ <font color="green">MHoydilla!</font> A 2004 veteran who dropped out partway through last year, he was also perfect in the first week of the original Challenge (which started a few weeks after the 2003 season kicked off). It was good to see so many familiar names from last year coming back, but the ravaging hoards of new punters was a bit surprising! If zimms decides to start again during Week #2, she/he has a big thank you to send my way! Two Shoe-Ins from the Hatfield-McCoy war, along with that wonderful Rams debacle, did in a lot of the field this week. Our leaderboard from last year are mostly spotting us a week, with a few notable exceptions. I felt lucky to escape with my tie (the over should have won Thursday night).

Both you and chaz64 are 3-1-0 for Week #1 with $600.

I can see that the O/U picks are going to be a problem for me, since I react to the team name when I'm doing a lot of them at once. I'll have to be more careful.

I've fixed it, you'll see the correct total, including the 3-1-0 $600 adjustment, next week in the ongoing yearly summary.

Easy, ever thought about using a football pool site to calculate everything? This is a lot of work for you and is much appreciated.
I was looking around the net and http://www.footballpooltracker.com for instance only charges $19.95 for the season with unlimited members. I would be fin picking up the tab. Just a thought. Trying save you some time for poker. [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

I don't know how your tracker works, so I was wondering if you could come up with this info for me: how much was wagered on the Bucs, total? I'm coming up with a goose-egg, but may have missed some of the corrections or something.

Thanks for the information. Several posters are talking about coming up with something for this as well.

I'm still not sure if I want to take this contest offline (from 2+2) or not- I have to think of the pros and cons (for all of us) and check with the 2+2 gurus.

As to missing poker.... with job and travel, I haven't been able to get to the casinos much to play poker, so it's really not costing me in that area. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Maybe cutting into my studies, but since I'm not using them anyway...) [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]

The previous year's "Fade Me Champion" gets the gooseegg group named after him or her, based on last's year's change in the rules.

Last year, it was called The Scalfie Zone in honor of our long-term 2+2 sports poster scalf, who we always looked to fade (and whose picks you always hoped didn't match what you were betting on [img]/images/graemlins/shocked.gif[/img])
His results were never that bad overall (he was 5th in the inaugural Challenge), but it was a tradition at that point. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]
Now, the 3+1 penalty box title is earned. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

No, but a quick check showed a +$24,900 for the group that stayed with it until the end, a ($8,700) overall loss for those who dropped out during the year and an overall gain therefore by 2+2 as a whole of $16K over the 17 weeks of the season.

Top bankroll was $5300, bottom one ($4400) Highest winning percentage (by Rutis) was 61.8%, lowest 31.25%

That stellar Cowboys collapse on Monday night was the capper to another overall ugly Week #2 for the 3+1 cappers.

<font color="green">Some interesting “coincidences” that might become fade opportunities unique to the 3+1 Challenge crowd this year:

1) Posting first in a week (with my post in Week #1 not counting, since I was getting it started.. which is why I escaped with $0):
Current record 0-8-0- <font color="red"> -$2000 </font>

2) Posting after the Sunday noon deadline for the contest:
Current record 4-19-1- <font color="red"> -$4600 </font> if we include CalgaryKid's lame attempt to post on Monday an hour after the start for the Saints/Giants game. [img]/images/graemlins/confused.gif[/img]</font>

Some handicappers of note this week:

Year-to-date notes - through Week #3

I won't have a lot of comments yet, since the first three weeks of the season are such a mess.

- After Week #2 last year, <font color="purple">bugstud</font> was -$800 in total, down at the bottom of the pack... and he's in the same spot this year (except one more week behind). So, no one should despair yet that the season is lost- look where the 2004 champ is, and was!

- Defying the name, <font color="green">NoChance</font> tops the leaderboard so far this year. Note that he and <font color="green">chaz64</font> have not had a perfect week... is that bad news for the rest of us?

- The “lorinda Memorial Losing Record, But Still Winning Cash Club” welcomed <font color="purple"> MickeyG</font> and <font color="red">rohjoh</font> as its initial members for this year.

- The battle for the “Fade Me! 2005 Champion” of 3+1 has started off strongly! <font color="maroon">ZarlosV</font> has taken over his twin's account with spectacular results.

did you notice, <font color="maroon">zimms</font>, that when you actually squeezed your picks in before the deadline, you avoided the bottom of the list?

-<font color="orange"> And our final drama- the "3+1" Hatfield/McCoy feud continues to lay waste to the landscape. The McCoys have the Shoe-In lead, but their overall record fails to impress, taking away from their "winning" SI record.</font>

Let's start recovering those records in Week #4!

my record should be 4-8-0 and not 4-10-0 (unless i got penalized 2 losses for posting first in week 2... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img])
the total is (sadly) correct however [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]
