Bush Admits Harming America
At the signing of $417 billion defense bill Bush said:
"Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." Sure it was probably a slip of the tongue, but most such slips are grounded in reality. |
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
It's no worse than the language, grammar, and structure of most 2+2 books I've read.
Perhaps W needs to preface his speeches with "A Note on the English." |
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
zzzzzzzzing!
exactly. tell me again about how ray zee made his money in the dessert. |
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
2+2 publishing publish poker books. That is there "job"
Pres Bush is a professional politician. An important skill of the professional politician is oratory. So we can conclude hes crap at that. Wonder what else hes crap at? |
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
I agree, it is pretty unreasonable to expect the leader of the free world to have at least a high school level grasp of the English language. Gansters in the hood speak the same level of English, why should we expect more from the Yale educated President?
|
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
My favorite part of the "Note" is that it begins with a grammar error.
Honestly, 2+2 isn't as bad as some of the Cardoza stuff I've seen. Mike Cappelleti (A Note on the Spelling: I apologize if I misspelled his name, but I'm not a professional speller.) has a great line somewhere in his Omaha 8 book. "In one word: pull, don't push with this hand!" One word, Mike, not six. |

Re: Bush Admits Harming America
Yes, Billy Bob down at the gas station has the same non-existent speaking ability, but I don't think I would really be comfortable with his fingers on the nuke-lur button, or have the ability to send troops into combat whenever old Jimmy John down at the bar feels like it.

Re: Bush Admits No Such Thing

They (our enimies) never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we." [/ QUOTE ] The alleged statement can imply one of two different things ( i don't doubt that he said it, I'm just too lazy to check): A)...and neither do we ever stop thinking of new ways to harm our own country and our own people. B)...and neither do we ever stop thinking of new ways to harm our enimies. If you're on the far left, well then it just HAS to be a Freudian slip, and that deep down (on an unconscious level) he must really have meant option 'A.' The rest of us read the statement, laugh at the thought of Bush meaning to imply option 'A,' then get on with our lives. |

Chuck, You\'re Post Is A Lie

[/ QUOTE ] I'm not defending the statement, obviously it was a poor choice of words. That being said, "Bush Admits Harming America" is a pure lie. Based on that quote, Bush never admitted harming anyone or anything. "They never stop thinking about new ways to harm...", along with "and neither do we." Nobody is actually DOING any harming, they are thinking about it. If your post was titled "Bush Admits THINKING About Harming America", you might have a case. But instead, your post is just a lie. If your going to pick on the guy, there's plenty of material that is good enough as it is. It should be shooting fish in a barrel, but you seem to be having some trouble with it. Edit: Since it is a clear distortion of the truth, I was going to report it to the moderators... oh hell, what's the use. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, you've got 2 left, so I guess you're in the clear. There is also a difference between making a typo and making a grammatical/logical non sequitor. I think the original poster was making the point that the President should be held to a higher standard. Since the original poster was not the President, or for that matter an elected official, he is not caught in any logical trap himself. NT |
Re: Bush Admits Harming America
Its not my job not to make typos.
Is it yours to be pedantic and/or posit flimsy diversions from the real issue re : is Bush a moron? My english skills are hardly relevant to the above are they. |
Re: Chuck, You\'re Post Is A Lie
My guess is that Bush meant that we never stop looking for ways our enemies might attempt to harm America (so that we can take preventive countermeasures). Our enemies are looking for chinks in our armor, and so should we be, if we are to employ a proper defensive strategy.

Re: Bush Admits Harming America
Chuck,
I made a minor slip of the toungue, obviously my actions as President are more important than how slick a speaker I am. Lets get back to important things, like the proper use of corn. W |
Re: Chuck, You\'re Post Is A Lie
Sure, he obviously meant that or something similar. That doesn't excuse the sloppy wording. The leader of the free world should not make ambiguous statements (unless that is the point of the statement of course.)

Re: Bush Admits Harming America
Why do you make them so often?
Do you still believe the following? Quote "There is no french word for entrepreneur" End quote. |
Re: Chuck, You\'re [sic] Post Is A Lie
I'm by no means a Bush partisan (or a Kerry one), but do you really want to give a pass for intentional ambiguity in favor of unintentional? I mean, what Bush said was a slip of the tongue (albeit a common one). The typical political double-speak is used to avoid responsibility. The latter is certainly the greater evil.

The wording was quite sloppy indeed.
