Re: WSOP Day 4: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
I wonder how bad the sportsbooks will get hit if Ivey wins it?
I would have to think there's been more action on him than anybody else. |
What happened to Flack?
I went to bed at midnight EST
Was he shortstaked when he ot busted? |
What He Said About A Greg v Ivey Headup
I was thinking a couple hours ago, if it comes down to those two Friday night, I really believe ESPN'd postpone it for a day or two to hype it & try to make some money off it.
Just a magnificent job by both guys, as well as Howard & Juanda who've been up & down all day. To contradict the other poster, I think there's a good % of 'names' left, prolly more than I'd thought. Bonyadi, Perry, and how about ol' Russ Hamilton? Gotta give credit to Rod Jr. for keeping the lead for 14 fvcking hours, too. But Greg & Ivey=just unreal. I sure hope they got Greg's chips all wiped down! |

I am rooting for my friend
163 Kjetil Praesttun $ 102,000 He finished 7th in PPMIV. Travel Channel/WPT filmed the last 6 so he just missed the cut there. Was short stacked at the start of day 3 but made it to day 4 anyway. Still short stacked though. |

Re: What He Said About A Greg v Ivey Headup
I think he means, make a whole new show with just them two heads up for an hour (TV hour). |
Re: What He Said About A Greg v Ivey Headup
Raymer's accomplishment to this point, even if he doesnt make the final table is a validation of his performance last year. He may be as good as anyone in the world when he has chips.

How did Lederer go from 50k before dinner break to 450k? Nice

I'm guessing they get down to 40-60 after today. Thursday, they knock it down to 9. Friday is the final. |
Re: WSOP Day 4: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Are they stopping at 100? Or are they stopping at set blinds?
I'm sure they could get well under 100 today. |
the Grinder
didn't see his name but might have missed it. What happened to Michael "the grinder" Mizrachi? Not really a fan of his but after his two week run on the WPT, and he was in the upper levels of chips most of the series, it looked like he was playing great. Did he just implode or what?
|
Re: WSOP Day 4: \"Official\" News, Results, and Discussion
Greg's got mad skillz, but the deck really is smacking him in the face. Since the dinner break he's called all-ins with QQ, K7 that flopped two pair, and AA. Everytime someone has a hand that they feel they can push with, Raymer's got them trumped. Not saying he's not a great player, but let's not discount the short term luck involved in an event like this. If there were none, we'd have the same final table every year.

All I'm saying is that luck might get you in the money, skill might get you in the money, but to win this thing you need luck and skill. [/ QUOTE ] I think that is pretty well understood by most. Luck factors in so many ways in a tournament, its impossible to even try to quantify it when we are reading updates on cardplayer. When we try to figure out how lucky someone is it only turns into a circular argument. I think its easier to just assume that if a guy beats 2500 players one year and 5600 the next, he's probably at least doing something right. |
