Another bad beat

Was playing at Pacific Poker in a sit and go.

I had Q-K and the flop was 2-9-10. Everyone checked.

Turn was a Queen. Everyone checked to me and I called. Had one other caller.

River was another Queen to make a board of 2-9-10-Q-Q and give me trip queens. I was escatic and went all in.

What did the other guy have? 10-10

At first I was confused as to how I was beaten. When I realised I had a full house then turned to dumbfounded.

I thought I had the nuts although anyone with 2-2, 9-9, 10-10, 8-J or J-K was going to beat me.

But still.........

Going to keep trying at Pacific Poker. You won't believe this but I have had some success there. Just haven't posted it.

Hopefully will have a good beat story of my own to post soon

first of all, thankyou for playing at pacific sit and goes, i have probably come up against you at some point in the micros, so thankyou for buying me metal gear solid 3.

second of all, it's a IS impossible for trips to be the nuts, as if you have trips, the board has paired, making at least quads the nuts.

third of all, this ISNT a bad beat, you had the worst hand, nothing you can do but take it and learn.

if you come across me then say hi. (blaze666) and you are going to improve, and look back on this post and say wtf mait, what was i talking about?

Re: Another bad beat

Yeah. I have a funny story too.

I had 88 on the button.

UTG limped, MP limped, I raised, both called.

Flop 998. UTG bets, MP calls, I call

Turn 4. UTG bets, MP calls, I raise, UTG calls

River 8. Checked to me and I bet, UTG raises, I 3bet, UTG caps.

He then flipped over 93o (which he limped UTG) and flipped out. He called it the worst beat ever. For the next 10 minutes he kept saying "nice hand douchebag zeus" and "good play idiot." I got a good kick out of it.

While the back woods of Tennessee are ok, I can assure you that I work and live in a better place. Not to toot my own horn but an MBA tends to do that for you.

But I like your moxie utmt40 - we should be mates. Would you like that?

By the way - where is the right place to post bad beat stories?

I think I understand what you are saying about how you feel your trips should have beat his trips. Unfourtunatley Texas Hold'em don't work like that. That's the beauty of a hidden set. He seemed to know he could check it to you and you would eventually bet. He was hoping a good card would come on the turn or river. You should have made a bet on the turn and maybe he would have thought you held QQ for a set. If he didn't fold you could have been suspicious. Maybe you should have raised preflop.(assuming everyone limped) KQ is good to have in late position. I don't think it was a bad beat but more like bad play on your part that got you into trouble.

More of a good lesson rather than a bad beat

NO WHERE. If you havn't gotten it by now, posting a bad beat story is the one way to get everyone making fun of you. We've all did it at first but WE quickly learned not to do it anymore. WE also didn't try to defend ourselves pathetically and to the sad amusement of everyone else.

ridiculous...

wow, this guy is ridiculous. he's like a parody of himself and bill fillmaff rolled into one. i cant imagine what this flaming from 2+2 must be doing to his self esteem.

davey, i play in the REAL MONEY SNGs, and that is where more than 3/4 of my bankroll has come from. im willing to wager that not only are you down, but you will stay down.

how old are you as well? you doun't sound old enough to gamble. im also willing to wager that you are underage.

i think it's likely that most people here come from better backgrounds than you, since most here are upper middle class and very intelligent.

from what iv'e seen of you, you look exactly the same as a pacific fish.

of course, while you're talking so much trash to this guy, you don't realize that if you are holding trips (i.e. the Qs on a board with the Qd and Qh) quads are impossible, even on Pacific.

This was the most entertaining post I've ever read.

P.S.
Forget about Pacific Poker, try Party Poker 3/6 6max. There are hardly any bad beats there.

2) From a bankroll of $1000 I am now $7432
3) I have two degrees including an MBA from Stanford.
4) I gamble mostly in real casinos where I am a VIP player. Just began playing online where I do consider myself a novice because it is a different game to real poker.
5) I played in the 2005 WSOP - did you hotshot? Or are you watching in on TV?
6) I am married - have you even kissed a girl who wasn't your sister, cousin, you met on the street corner or met online?
7) Last but not least - seeing how you are such a pokxer expert thought you would have known that the secret of success is to get your opponents to underestimate you.
You can think and say what you want if it makes you feel good. Personally, I don't give a f...
