Re: Table I just built
Ok those dice are insanely cool and the legs are great, super sly job on that.
|
Re: Table I just built
The dice are cool idea but I'm not a big fan of how they look. But the legs are awesome, for some reason that is what makes a table for me, and you did a great job there.
I need a nice table :/ |
Re: Table I just built
that looks awesome. the rail looks really nice. it looks pretty small compared to some tables, though. what are the dimensions?
|
Re: Table I just built
sweet table, have you thought about putting lights behind the dice?
|
Re: Table I just built
There are lights behind the die. See the white power cord coming from under the table leg that goes no where else?
|
Re: Table I just built
Yes there is a rope light behind the dice. Its pretty bright, but hard to capture with the day sunlight coming through the window. Bright, yet not bright enough to be distracting or annoying. You are right about the table being smaller than most you have seen. A typical table that everyone builds is 8'x48". Its just a little to big for me. Its a pain to deal from the ends on that big of a table. I made this table 7'x42" wide. Easy to deal from everywhere on the table and plenty of room for 8 people. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

Re: Table I just built
Where did you get the legs, and how much did they cost?
|
Re: Table I just built
Double pedestal legs from Oak Express. They were $120. Search for oak express at www.yellowpages.com They are all over the country.

Re: Table I just built
Rockler also has retail locations (there's one in Seattle). I'm pretty sure Woodcraft sells them as well. There's also a few online woodworking supply stores that specialize in table legs and turned spindles that carry them.

Re: Table I just built
Very nice table! Love the idea of the lights behind the dice. I'm thinking of maybe using some EL wire in my next one.
Are the legs permaneantly mounted to the top, or does it break down for transport? |
Re: Table I just built
I dont think the EL wire stands out very well in the daytime sunlight. The legs are attached to the tabletop with 8 hex bolts and T-nuts. So, yes it can be taken apart in 3 sections for transport. The legs, the rail, and the tabletop.

Re: Table I just built
I just wanted to thank everyone for their compliments. I think I'm going to talk to a billiard supply place and video game supply place to see if they would like to show and sell my tables in their stores.

Re: Table I just built
how long did that take you and what was the total cost?
it looks like a beauty. |
Re: Table I just built
Materials were about $400, $425, something like that. Dont remember exactly. Took me about 18-20 hours or so. I just worked on it here and there thoughout a week and a half after work.

Re: Table I just built
that's a sick table man. what did you use for the table top? velvet?
|
Re: Table I just built
The tabletop was covered in a faux suede. I didnt pick the material. My fiances brother in law did. He was actually looking for a dark blue double velvet but, there wasnt any in any of the stores around here. The faux suede is really nice but, not as stretchable as other materials. Wasnt the easiest material to work with. It did come out nice though.
